[No posting table yet, currently working on it~]
With his bow slung around his shoulder and his quiver around the other, nico skipped down the road, her pale blue eyes plastered on the palace ahead. he'd heard from his mother caretaker that the courtyard was open for the puplic, and Nico had always wanted to look at the palace up close. He gasped with amazement as he entered through the gates. His father had worked here. Stepped on these very grounds, trained in this very courtyard as a young tom. Nico smiled and puffed his chest with pride. He was goiung to be just as great as his dad one day, maybe even greater. As he looked arount the courtyard, he saw a few straw bulls-eyes for archery training. With a gleeful smile, he slipped his bow from his shoulder and snatched an arrow from his quiver. Slow and steady, he lined up the arrow with the center of the bulleye and pulled back the string. After a moment's hesitation and concentration, he let go the arrow, and with a thud the arrow hit the straw. Nico sprinted to the bulls-eye and saw where the arrow's point stuck in the straw, less than five millimetres away! Nico's smile grew wider. "Yes!" he cheered with triumph.

Training one of the soliders under him that day had been hard. The soldier was new, and it showed. Missing every target when practicing archery, hand to hand combact no better, Akelo had ended up asking the tom cat if he truely wanted to be there. When no answer was given, Akelo had ended training early and sent the young cat home to rest up for the next day.
Now the ginger lord was resting under a tree, eyes closed, time to spare until his next scheduled one-on-one training session. As he dozed off, he caught the tell tale twang of a bow string. He lifted his head and peered around, quickly and easily spotting the source of the sound.
Akelo watched as the small male rejoiced in his hit, and stood up. He jumped to the tree and hid in the branches, narrowing his eyes. He was curious, this boy was younger than the soldier he had just sent home, but had done imensly beter. He smiled and using his ghost grasping magic, slid the arow from the target to land with a gentle sound on the grass beneath. He settled into his hiding spot and watched carefully, slippign his cloak onto his body to help him remain hidden, both physically and his identity.

Nico looked down with surprise. How did that happen? The arrow had just moved on it's own means. He reached a white paw down to grab the arrow from the ground, and he held it to his face to investigate it. How strange. Nico just shrugged and then walked away from the target. When he was farther than he was the last time, he turned and then settled the arrow by the bow and then when he was ready, pulled back the string and after a moment of great concentration, the young tom let the aroow go and then looked at where the arrow had landed. Could it be? The orphan dropped his bow and ran to the bulls eye and laughed with glee. He got it! Right in the center! He made a small jump of victory and spun around. His 'mentor' would be proud. He looked at the palace, the happiness faded to curiousity. Apparently the white tom lived in the large castle somewhere. Nico gazed at the many windows, wondering if his mentor was staring back. Nico smiled and then looked back at the bulls eye and grabbed his arrow and slipped it in his quiver.

Curiosity was getting the better of the elder cat, but he knew better. It was time to stop fooling around. This tom had come into the courtyard without anyone accompaning him. Akelo had never seen him before, and as such, wanted to show the male that the palace grounds aren't always friendly.
Impressed by the male's aim, Akelo twisted slightly and refocused, this time causing all the arrows int he quiver to fly up and out of the sack, landing around the young boy. The ginger tom smiled, but was otherwise still. He had left his whip on the ground, and was now causing it to 'slither' around, where he hid it behind the target, coiled up in long grass.

Nico's eye grew wide as the arrows flew out of his quiver and landed all around him, and he even saw a whip slither around in the grass nearby. He looked at his arrows closely and saw a faint glow around them. He snorted with laughter. This is what someone calls a prank? "Who are you?" He asked between a fit of laughter. He'd seen the ghost grasping spell before. But never to use it in this way. To Nico, it was ingenious! He looked around the courtyard, but no cat could be seen. If this cat was aiming to hurt him, he'd better protect himself. Nico quickly closed his eyes and then herard a faint shimmer as an invisible barrier appeared around him. He was safe from flying arrows now.

Eyes trained to spot tiny hints of magic, Akelo easily spotted the shield the young boy had formed. He smirked softly, and probed the barrier for weak spots. Mostly against flying obstacles, he noticed, then slid his whip out and around the boys paws, where he removed the effect of magic, making it naught but a whip now.
Cloak covering his face, though unsure if the boy would know his identity anyway, he jumped from the tree. Using his adoptive father's favortie fake name, he bowed his head, dagger strapped to his leg from training practice glimmering in the sun.
"I am Uri. Who might you be, that takes up place in the training feilds of the imperial militia? " The cloak hid his identity, though mostly used for when he went to the market, it was useful to others. He grasped all the arrows and placed them all back in the quiver, feeling the strain on his body slightly, releasing all magic he had active to let his energy return.

A bit frightened now, Nico's slower just twitched. "I.. I'm Nico Oakwood. Son of the deacesed Solider, Drenlin Oakwood." He meowed, his voice surprisingly loud and strong. He blinked, her pale blue eyes trying not to betray his fear. Why did he have to come here? Obviously his mentor wasn't going to be here! He had other business to attent too. Nico looked at where he'd dropped his bow. Bad move that was. He should have seen this coming. He looked at the cat with the cloak on once more. Uri he was, hmm? Didn't sdeem like a cool name for a ginger cat. Without thinking, Nico blurted out, "Hey, mister. Are you a soldier?"

Akelo could see the slight fear in the boys eyes, stance, and overall posture. Feeling bad, he opened his mouth to speak but was surprised by the boy's sudden change of subject. Blinking, he stared at the boy for a moment, then chuckled.
"In a way, I suppose I am, though no one calls me a soldier anymore, least, not if they want to keep their head on their shoulders." He wasn't trying to scare the boy, in fact his tone was all joking, and the smile that was visible from beneath the hood showed he was in fact teasing the boy.
"Nico, what is a boy of your age doing in a place like this?"

Nico smiled, "Oh, I was just seeing if my mentor was around. He is a great guy you know! Then I saw the bulls eyes. I don't have any at home. I'm an orphan you see, sir." Then, trying not to seem rude by doing so, he kneeled down and started to collect his arrows from the ground. he only had fifteen, but that was a lot to collect when they were scattered. "So, sir. What exactly do soldiers do? I mean, ever since I was told about my father, I've wanted to be just like him. But that was just from my friend.. I mean, mentor. I want to hear the jobs from first hand experience." he explained, looking up from what he was doing. He then picked up an aroow from the ground and slipped it into his quiver.

What could he say? Akelo never had that real Soldier experience, he had been taken into training for the Lord of the Legionary from almost hte beginning. He shrugged and as the boy gathered his arrows, picked up his whip and coiled it up before hanging it on his belt.
"Busy, tiring, hard work. Its not an easy task...Your mentor teach you a lot? or just archery? Is that all you want to learn? You seem to have a knack for it, as it is." He smiled, and pushed his hood off. He wasn't sure if the boy knew him, but at this point, if he did, better to make him feel better.
"As it is, I never really had the job of solider, I kinda skipped that rank to get where I am."

Nico's ears layed back with embarrassment, "Hav- I mean, my mentor just teaches me how to use a bow. He says I'm a natural. I've only been learning for four months.." he sighed. Every day we would go outside and practise archery. He then looked at Uri as the cat took off his hood. This cat wore glasses. Interesting. "So.. are you a High rank then?" he asked with excitement. If that was the top soldier, then Nico had probably impressed the best soldier there is! Nico felt his heart thumping quickly, it felt like it was going to break his ribs and rip out of his body and run away. He waited intently for the answer. Nico picked up the last of the fifteen arrows and then stood up again, his legs felt a bit weak fom the excitement.

He had stood there, watching the young boy carefully, to see any reaction to his words, when he caght that half spoken name. His ears perked up and he stared at the boy. He said Haven, or was about to He knew that his charge and friend had been hanging out around the orphanage more recently, so this is why.
"High rank, yes. I teach the very heirs to the throne everythign they know, for the most part." He spoked softly, having summoned a tony flame that he was moving along his fingers while speaking, then let it burn out and looked at the boy.

Nico's eyes grew wide, "Really? You? You taught Prince Haden how to battle and hunt and everything? Dear Creator! This is probably the second best day of my life!" He meowed in awe. He could feel his hindlegs quivering with exitement. The Lord of the Legionaries? Here? Infront of Nico? "Sir, did you ever know my father, Drenlin Oakwood? He was once a soldier of yours but he was killed by a beggar when on patrol." He needed to ask this. Maybe Uri knew if the deceased soldier was the reason why Nico was so good with a bow. If Haven was right, he really did have it in his blood! He took a step forward, waiting patiently for the Lord of the Legionaries response.
[hehe, like the new table? B)]

Skelo tried to place the name the boy had given him in his mind. He had only been at this rank a couple years now, but he had been haning around since he was one year himself. The name seemed familiar, but besides that, he didn't know. But he smiled at the boy.
"I did. He was one of my best soldiers, to be honest. Handy with a bow and arrow, much like yourself." He smiled and knelt beside the boy, resting his paw on his hand.
"He too had shield magic, must be where yours comes from. You take after him greatly. You should be proud of him."

Nico stared at the Legionary Soldier for a while, his eyes still wide and full of wonder. "I- I... Thank you, sir." He mewed with a small hesitation. He wasn't sure what to do next, whether to start practising more or to ask the Lord of the Legionaries more questions about his father. "... sir, do.. do you know a thing or two about bows? Maybe you could teach me a bit on them." he requested. The ginger tabby might be too busy, but if that's so, then Nico was fine with it. But if he accepted, Nico's day would be a whole lot better.
