No one is afraid of nothing. This echoed in his head slightly. But nobody should be afraid of everything, he reflected with a soft frown. Kite sat up, tugging at his bandages to keep from trying to cower again. He was inside and safe, no need to worry about a little thunder. He nodded in agreement to the birman’s statement. “Yeah, but h-hopefully not w-weeks,” he stammered, the thought making him feel quite nervous. Weeks?! He didn’t even want to leave the shop until it was over for how much it seemed to make him nervous. However, Kite had a hard time thinking that Ailish would be fond of the idea of him hiding in her shop for hours, minutes, or weeks. He cracked a small smile, swallowing a tiny laugh at the thought.
The Siamese took another drink of his tea, watching the rain on the windows curiously. “E-Ever look at two water droplets o-on a window, and imagine that they’re racing?” He stammered curiously, grinning as he located two little beads of water crawling down the window. His bets were on the one to the left. It was so childish, he knew that. But old habits seemed to die hard, and the imaginative blue-eyes feline couldn’t shake a lot of his younger fascinations. He shuffled slightly, taking another drink of his tea as an excuse to avert his gaze, staring down at the liquid in his cup, his ears still low with unease from the thunder and being social. Well, trying too, anyways.

She noticed the siamese tom's worried look and attempted to give him a consoleing smile, "I'm sure it won't be weeks," she nodded to herself, "I was sort of exagerating there. Nothing to worry about." They sat in silince for a while after that. Ailish closed her eyes for a moment and listened to the rain pattering on the rooftop of her shop. The sweet sent of lavender from Kite's tea hung in the air, and she smiled to herself.
The white she-cat beamed back at him. She'd always thought it was weird for her to think about things that way, so she was happy to meet someone else that did, if not the slightest bit strange. "All the time," she smiled back awkwardly, "I thought I was the only one." She followed his gaze to the two raindrops on the window. The one on the left was going faster, but she could see it had a completely clear path, so it wouldn't pick up any extra water, whereas, the right one wasn't going very fast, but had a bunch of droplets on it's side of the window. She smiled to herself. "I'm saying the right one," she laughed a bit, "what do you bet?"

The Siamese tried to take comfort in her exaggerations, but he couldn’t shake his unease. Pushing things to the back of his mind when they frightened him was a very hard task for the blacksmith. Thankful for a distraction, he flitted his attention back to the water on the window. The sounds of soft rain and the sight of it all was the only thing to consol him from the booming sound of thunder in the background that would occasionally make his fur frazzle. He laughed light-heartedly knowing he wasn’t the only one; it happened a lot where he’d bring up the way his mind worked only to find out it was an odd twist about himself. Not normal. Then again, Kite didn’t exactly look at the world the way most did.
“G-Guess we have something in common, then,” he remarked bemusedly. That was certainly something new, and when he had first met Ailish he could’ve sworn the she-cat was like his polar opposite. Open and friendly towards everyone, whereas Kite would far rather just stay quiet in his shop. But of course, he couldn’t just ignore somebody who had fallen down. He glanced back at the water droplets; it started to appear like his would have to get a move on if it was still to beat the one with the ping-pong maze of water-droplets. He pricked his ears in surprise; what did he bet? He shifted his weight and thought. “Hmm,I- I tell you what, if my water droplet w-wins, I trouble y-you for another cup of tea. And what would you like if you win?” He stammered, but managed a crooked smirk.

"I dunno Kite," she raised her eyebrows, "we might not be quite as different as you think." She laughed quietly. The white she-cat looked the siamese tom over, wondering exactly what he thought of her. Probably confedent, outgoing, and neat. She was glad he thought that; the truth wasn't quite as pretty. A strange, reserved cat, completely lost in the past, who jumped at her door opening. She, herself wasn't sure exactly what to make of Kite. He seemed nice, if not a little quiet, but she didn't really mind, any company was good.
"Ha!" she responded to his comment, "If you win, I'll give you free tea for life!" she was feeling very confedent of herself, but somewhere in the back of her mind, she hoped she would lose. Not many visitors came over for tea, and admitidly, she hoped to see more of Kite. "But if I win," she though hard, not entirely sure what she would want. She knew he was a blacksmith, so a sword would be her inclination, but that seemed a little bit over the top. "you give me a few of your things to sell in my shop."

Kite smiled; he didn’t do that very often. But slowly, ever so slowly, he was beginning to feel a bit at ease around Ailish. Although the raging storm outside didn’t exactly make it easy for him to relax, and the tom still found himself gripping the table firmly to keep from hiding underneath it at times. “Oh?” He meowed at her confidence, but his smile didn’t waver. “D-Deal~” He stammered with as much confidence as he could muster on his own part, although looking now at the window, it was still tough to see how the outcome could unfold. His little droplet that he tracked with sharp blue eyes never ceased to travel swiftly along the window, a clear path to the finish. But while Ailish’s was moving all over the place, it was moving at a speed his won wouldn’t be able to keep up with for much longer.
Many would’ve found the situation hilarious, bursting aloud in a laugh at the fact that these two cats now sat there, sipping tea and staring deadest at the window. But it wasn’t really like that in Kite’s head. In Kite’s head, everything was a puzzle, and he wouldn’t sleep well until he knew he had solved yet another. Foolish as it may be, this was all just another little quiz to him, and he watched with genuine interest and curiosity, baffled by it no matter what the outcome may be. Kite didn’t really want to win. Although, the idea of more of this tea was encouraging, and he’d like to talk with Ailish more, he realised quietly. Although he doubted after tonight he’d ever be able to bring up the nerve unless she said something to him first. He often felt pathetic because of it; he wasn’t going anywhere. His life a constant circle, because he let nobody in. Maybe that was why he liked making puzzles out of things? Who knew! He started at another, more distant thunder, snapping from his thoughts as he flinched visibly.

The birman cat giggled at herself, feeling like a kit all over again. She was glad Kite thought the same about the raindrops, she had always wanted to talk with another cat about that sort of thing, but it always seemed like no one had any time for fun. She grinned over at him, blushing a bit, although she wasn't quite sure why; she had nothing to be embarrassed about, or at least, they both had the same thing to be embarrassed about, and nether really cared.
The two cats watched in silence as the two drops of water raced down the window, Ailish's was gaining on Kite's but his always managed to stay just a bit in front of hers. Then for a moment, her's seemed to slow down, almost to a stop, only to catch another smaller one, setting it going again. It was going pretty fast, but started turning to the left, right towards the other. The two raindrops smashed together, sliding down to the bottom of the window in a wet pile.
"What?" the white cat exclaimed, "How did that happen? I was winning!" she sulked a bit, taking a sip of her tea and reminding herself that it was only a game. She wasn't entirely sure who would have won now.

His ears pricked, he blinked in surprise as the two raindrops fused, and he lost track of the single water glob among all the others that painted the window and blurred the view of the streets outside. Kite’s expression remained blank, and then, after a slight stretch of silence, he covered his mouth with a paw and laughed quietly. It all just seemed to silly all of a sudden, how much he had anticipated which would win. It was almost as if the storm had a silly sense of humour, but Kite couldn’t help but feel a slight pang of disappointment he wouldn’t have a valid excuse to come over to get more tea. Now whenever he wanted some he’d have to find some other lame excuse, and he had been so eager to blame it on the rain. Of course though, Ailish was right. Hers probably would’ve won.
Kite shifted in his chair as he stopped laughing and his smile slowly faded. “W-Well that’s unfortunate,” he cocked his head to the side, now thinking a bit more. It wasn’t until their game had ended that he realised he had really been looking forwards to finding out which was faster: A water droplet with a clear path or one surrounded by other raindrops. He pouted inwardly that he wouldn’t get to solve the puzzle with those particular drops, but he managed to push away the disappointment and glance back at Ailish curiously. He fell oddly quiet again. Now what? The socially awkward feline felt at a loss for words now that the rain had taken away his distraction.

Ailish laughed quietly, "You know, Kite," she nodded her head, "while some might see the bad side of this and say we both loose, I would like to turn this around, and say we both win!" She laughed a bit louder, "You can come for tea anytime you want, I'd be happy to have you." She beamed at him, she really would be happy to see the siamese tom, he was certainly growing on her. She really hoped he would come back sometime.
Thunder boomed again, now louder than ever, taking Ailish completely by suprise. She squeaked loudly, falling backwards on the ground and climbing under the table. No matter how much she wasn't afraid of thunder, she was still the jumpiest cat in the kingdom. She blushed, understanding now, exactly how Kite felt.

The tom smiled slightly, nodding quietly. They both won? Sounded great! Actually, sounded like a better outcome than he could’ve originally hopped for. He had to admit, he had never really enjoyed company all that much, but Ailish was one of those cats he didn’t mind having around. In fact, they seemed to be a lot alike in some ways. He parted his jaws to stammer that it sounded like a perfect idea, when the thunder struck again. Blinded by fright, he didn’t even notice where Ailish had went as he darted like a flash, cowering beneath the small wooden chair he had been sitting on moments ago. His bright blue eyes squeezed shut, he allowed himself to tremble for a little while, fighting internally to slow his fluttering heart.
As the thunder’s roar faded to a mere memory, the humility sunk in. He flattened his ears to his skull, slowly blinking his eyes again and glancing up at the table, expecting to see a bemused white she-cat on the other side. But… nope, he found her gaze right across from his, under the table. His face still frozen with slight fear, he ever so slowly processed what had happened. They both had hid? He had never met anyone else who was also skittish, most found his fear of the world borderline hilarious. Finally, in the silence where all that could be heard was the rain outside, the Siamese allowed himself to crack into a slight smile, and slowly a quiet, nervous laugh. “T-t-that thunder sure is something,” he stammered with a warm smirk.

Ailish giggled a bit, feeling even more kitish than she had before. "It's r-really quite something," she replied, her teeth still chattering. Outisde, rain colored the market streets in a grey haze, it's constant patter turned into a steady drumbbeat. She smiled a bit, even if he was a bit shy, Kite was great company. She loved the look on his face when he tasted her tea.
The two cats got up, a bit shakily, from under the table. Ailish sat back down on her stool and took a deep breath, "Sorry about that," she blushed, "I'm a bit jumpy about thing like that," she though for a moment, "well, more than a bit. A lot actually." The snowy white cat laughed a bit at herself, then, finding nothing else to say, looked around the room a bit. She sniffed the air, then jumped, "Oh my goodness!" she jumped, "The bread!" the birman cat got up in such a hurry that she knocked her stool over and dashed into the backroom, comming out with a pan of burnt rosemary bread.
Ailish groaned, why did she have to be such a terrible baker? Most other cats could at least cook a measly pan of bread, but not her, she had to go and mess it up, it was always something. "I am so sorry," she blushed again, "now it's going to smell like burnt bread for the rest of the day," Ailish put a paw on her forehead, "I can't even open a window!"
