((Keep in mind that Auri is skittish, odd and rarely goes out.)) Our max number is 3 rpers: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Auri's breath whistled quietly through her nose in the pale, moonlight fields of grass. The people of the festival had long gone home to sleep off their ale and weariness. Leaving this quiet playground to herself, leaving only the hoots of the night time birds and wind to play upon her slender ears. Shifting nervously, she shouldered her half-harp and quietly stalked forward in the tall grass that swept in the breeze. Pale, near-blind eyes scanning the fields. She grinned a small smile and bolted swift and quiet into the festival grounds. To play her music and hunt the wind in peace and quiet.

Niasi knew it wasn't her job to do, but the habit of keeping things clean got the better of her. She was clearing away the garbage and the cups from the others' ale. She was far too used to cleaning and caring for the Kingdom that she wasn't about to turn away from it. She wanted to help. Perhaps the cats that worked the booths would be happy. She kept in mind that she had other things to do, but they could wait. The black she-cat's blue eyes glinted in the dim light there was. She picked up a chair and pushed it back to its place.

Auri stopped in her tracks at the sight of a large rock propped up against one of the festival stores. It was perfect for her, a white-toothed grin crossing her face as she padded forward silently and hopped onto the rock, pulling her half-harp off her back and into her paws as she propped her back against the stall. Clearing her throat Auri pitched out a few notes until satisfied enough to begin tuning her harp. Turning the pegs, she strummed on the harp strings, pleased by the happy, mellow sound coming from the instrument. Looking up at the moon with pale eyes. Auri began to sing: Dear friend, as you know Your flowers are withering Your mother's gone insane Your leaves have drifted away But the clouds are clearing up And I've come reveling Burning incandescently...

The black she-cat stopped cleaning as a soft, sweet medley reached her ears. Niasi turned around, looking for the source. It was quite beautiful, although she couldn't quite hear the words. She hesitated and then propped the final chair up and tip toed down the path, between the booths and the occasional sleeping cat. She peered around a corner and the melody grew easier to understand. She pricked her ears up and listened quietly, then continued down the path. Niasi spotted the source beside one of the stores. It was a cat, she knew that from the start. But not one she recognized. She crept closer, not wanting to frighten the cat, or to be heard. She only wanted to listen for the moment.
(I wrote this and thought STALKER.)

Auri sighed as she looked up at the moon with her pale eyes glittering with tears as her music slowly halted to a stop. The wind, her only friend, would not come and sing with her music tonight. Sniffing, she rubbed a paw over her face to wipe away the tears. Looking down at the harp, she noticed her paws where blistered, causing a gentle smile to cross her face. Sighing she picked up the half-harp again and tuned the pegs to make the instrument play a low weeping sound. Before beginning to sing again in a sad lilting tune: Out of the mist of history He'll come again Sailing on ships across the sea To a wounded Nation
Signs of a saviour Like fire on the water It's what we prayed for One of our own
Just wait Though wide he may roam Always A hero comes home He goes where no one has gone But always A hero comes home
Deep in the heart of darkness sparks A dream of light Surrounded by hopelessness He finds the will to fight
There's no surrender Always remember It doesn't end here We're not alone...

It might have seemed that the fields were empty - but no, somewhere by the edge of the fields a sand-colored she-cat sat, a bow in her hands, seemingly humming a silent melody. Riven was sitting in the grass, enjoying the warm breeze and simply listening to the sounds of birds - she did this quite often when the she-cat didn't feel tired enough to go to sleep.
The dead squirrel laying by the she-cat's side estimated that she'd been hunting in the evening - she'd really enjoyed the festival and felt the need to simply rest and watch the stars for a while. Though, little did she know that there were another cats in the area.
{EDIT: Oh darn, I was supposed to post after Bramble wasn't I? Started writing it quite a long while ago and didn't see that anybody posted}

Niasi dropped down onto her four paws and sat down, not making a sound, studying the cat. She was very odd, not that it mattered. Niasi was used to that, she was somewhat odd herself. She watched as the cat smiled, then wiped away tears and smiled again. Her tune switched to a low one. Niasi shuffled her paws and hesitated. She then got onto her hind paws and flicked her tail, purposely dislodging a stone. It clattered down the path. She didn't want to surprise the cat, and it didn't feel right to just sit there and watch without permission. Niasi half-flattened her ears and took a step forward with a small smile. "You're quite a nice singer." she murmured.

Auri yowled in surprise as a voice woke her from her reverie. Whirling around she stood, but couldn't see who startled her as her near blind eyes couldn't pick up on the opposing she-cat's dark fur in the night, even though she stood right in front of her.
"Who's there!" Auri snarled in fear as she backed up against the wall, cradling her harp in her paws, her longer, curly fur covering her face. "I can hear your thoughts! Don't hide from me!" She yelped in fright. Pale eyes darting around in the dark.

"Hear my thoughts? I'm right here, in front of you." Niasi took a step forward, into as much light as she could. She looked puzzled at the frightened cat and sat down, curling her tail over her paws. She tipped her head slightly. Can she see me? Her eyes are so pale! she thought. Niasi gave a small reassuring purr. "My name is Niasi. I work in the palace, a Queen's Maiden. I came to the festival and was cleaning. I heard you singing and came down. You are quite good at it."

Riven twitched an ear and in a blink of a cat's eye she was already on all four, ready to leap, attack or dodge, whichever would be necessary. But an attack didn't come. She was quite sure she'd heard some distant singing, and then - shouting.
Taking her bow, the sandy she-cat sneaked among the shadows, slowly moving towards the two felines - she didn't want to be seen at all, at least not yet - she simply wanted to check what was going on and then, if necessary, she'd quietly leave the fields.
Now that she was close enough, hiding behind a tent, the she-cat could finally hear their words.

"Speak two ways. No shouting minds." She whimpered, covering her ears. "Can't see you, hear mind and voice speak. Hurts head." She cowered, pulling her claws through the long curly fur that covered her face in distress as she heard another cat's mind come screaming into her head.
"I hear you too." She squeaked, turning her head to Riven's direction, her paws still raking through her mane of fur. "Sssshhhhh..." She whispered, before going back to holding onto her harp. "The owl doesn't like your bow. It thinks your going to take it's babies." She mewed in Riven's direction.

"You can read minds?" Niasi asked, confused. She stepped closer, only a tail-length away so that if she could see at all, she could see her. "I'm not going to hurt you at all, I just wanted to see who was singing. If you want, I'll leave now." She glanced in the direction that the cat had turned to. She smelled a waft of scent of an owl, but no cat. That didn't mean there wasn't one there. Niasi glanced at Auri, trying tocalm her own whirling thoughts.

{Hey Falcon, is this RP set after/before the 'Rivers and Winds' RP with Auri and Riven?}
Riven frowned as the cats had seemingly recognized her - of course, mind reading. Carefully, keeping her eyes on both of the felines and her paws on the bow, the wanderer came out of her cover and faced the cats. It was quite dark, so the she-cat didn't instantly recognize the two she-cats - she could only see their silhouettes.
Knowing that continuing 'torturing' the poor cat with thoughts would do no good, Riven quickly cleared her mind, concentrating her thoughts on the slight breeze blowing through the fields.
Seemingly puzzled, the wanderer lowered her bow. "Well, I have no intention to do that," Riven frowned.

"That's good, she wanted to swoop you." Auri mewed in Riven's direction as she began to wobble to her feet as the voices she heard in her mind dimmed to whispering. Sighing she breathed through her nose as she walked back to her rock with her harp. "Are you two chasing the moon as well?" Auri questioned, tilting her head slightly as she calmed.

Niasi smiled and shook her head. "Not quite. I'm just helping out here, picking up chairs, helping cats home. That stuff." She watched the cat go back to the rock. She was a strange, but nice one. Odd. Like herself. She wouldn't mind getting to know this cat. Niasi sat down quietly. "How long have you been out here?" she asked. Certainly not the whole night! she would have noticed her by now.
