[ This is at night...obviously ] Marshall stood at the water's edge, the gentle waves lapping over his toes. It was a beautiful night to be out, the moon was high in the sky, the brave stars were twinkling in the sky, and even the ocean's temperature was wonderful....perfect for swimming....and even singing. Looking left and right, the soldier had to be sure no one was nearby to hear his hidden talent of song, he had already let it slip once, he didn't plan on doing it again. The tom had to be more careful. After he was sure that no one was in range of hearing him, he parted his jaws and began his song, it was one he learned from a storyteller, about the tale of the Grimalkin Oath, a tale that everyone all over Gweillan knew, the tale of secrets revealed. It was one of Marshall's favorite songs to sing, he was not sure if it was very well known though, but it probably was.

Lana had spent the day like she usually did- at the beach. The Snowshoe she-cat had a particular fondness for water and the beach was so alluring to her due to its massive size and quantity of cool, sparkling liquid. She was sitting on the sandy shore with her usual content (and somewhat far-away) smile plastered onto her pretty face. Her light green eyes were fixed wondrously upon the sea that lay flat before her and mirrored the sky above her; the dazzling stars that blinked and lit up the darkening nighttime sky with their stunning white light surrounded her. They were looking down at her from the heavens above and below her, the water’s surface reflected them and brought them down to earth for all of the land-dwellers’ to gaze at with awe. Unfortunately, it seemed that Lana was the only cat around to marvel in the beauty of the night.
She sighed sadly, disappointed that she couldn’t have spent the night with a friend, when suddenly, the water below her rippled. Lana screwed up her features with puzzlement as the static surface became disturbed and tried to figure out what could be the cause. Maybe she imagined it? That was possible, wasn’t it? She could have wished really hard for a friend and her imagination produced one… or what if her wish REALLY DID come true? Lana’s expression seemed to bubble over with giddy excitement. ‘How exciting!’ Lana thought, clapping her paws together merrily and flinging her legs in the air alternatively. ‘A friend- for me? This is too good to be true!’
The quick, excited kicking motion she was making with her legs eventually unbalanced her and the cheerful she-cat rolled backwards on to her back and threw her head into the sand. She giggled at the silliness of the situation, rolled onto her front, and sank into the unsteady surface as she stood on all four paws. She shook the sand from her black and gray pelt and with a wide grin she looked back to the sea and made her way towards it with a cute little hop in her step.
As she neared the water from the sand dune that she situated herself on to watch the sunset, a familiar tune washed over her. Was that the song of Grimlakin? Lana paused and listened to the song carefully, a new fascination overcame her. Lana loved to sing- her mother used to sing to her and she found it very soothing. Overtime, Lana realized she inherited her mother’s soothing singing abilities and she often found herself singing little songs from her kithood. She had a lovely voice- next to her arts and crafts, singing was one of Lana’s best and most beloved talents. She wanted to be an actress when she grew up but she realized that the life it lead- traveling constantly from place to place- didn’t quite suit her. She thus turned to making accessories- which was her favorite thing to do- and she made her schillings that way. As she listened to the gentle hum of another voice though, something inside Lana made her heart thump loudly in her chest and a passion from within seemed to engulf her like a wildfire. She had to join in- she had to sing along. She never had a duet with a tom before. This could be fun!
She stood up on two legs and padded gracefully onward towards the singing, her own soft, feminine voice blending into key and rhythm perfectly. She approached the water and without hesitation or thought, she dipped her toes into the cool fluid surface and padded through it with ease, the water that her body cut through and churned upwards produced strange-looking fins behind her- almost alluding her to a mythical mermaid or siren.
She had her eyes fixed on Marshall but her heart and thoughts were focused on the song. The legend of Grimalikin- every kit knew it. It was the heart and soul of the city.
She now stood before Marshal, singing like a delicate songbird and looked to the star with a fair smile as she arrived in time for the next verse of the song:
She, like all, had a secret, A secret of posture and speech. "Keep quiet!" they said. "You must!" But she had an issue with trust.

Despite all the warnings she went up above, And visits a land named Rithengar. Then she trusted a human and gave up her secret, "What an idiot!" they said. "She's a goner!"
When the female voiced joined in to his song, Marshall whipped around to face the cat, again someone had found out his talent, and ironically in the same place to... Maybe Jasper Beach is just full of bad luck and he should never sing here again. But, the last time someone found out his talent he had made a new friend, so perhaps he could make another!
Despite the she-cat being there, the soldier didn't stop singing, he wouldn't ruin a perfectly good song just because one cat showed up. And besides, she knew the song too! And was singing along!
The next verse came rather freely...
What they said came true and the cat was soon gone Never to live again She made the mistake of doing the wrong And that is why we have the Oath, my friend!
