Water lapped against the hulls of boats and dinghies at the human's dock. At this hour of the night, most cats and people had gone to sleep hours ago. Only one soul still wandered the docks. A small she-cat, as pale as the moon sat on the end of the dock, the stars reflected in her eyes. Ailish wasn't quite sure why she was there, but she felt that it didn't really matter. For some reason, this spot on the dock seemed to be calling to her. The sensation had quickly been replaced with the feeling of foolishness as soon as she had made it there, but she had ignored that as well.
She had lost count of how many hours she had been staring out at the boats on the ocean, rocking in the tide. Her long, downy, tail hung into the water, soaking in the warm waves. The only sound besides the ocean was the humming of cicadas in the grass of the city.

Kelvie crouched on the roof of a human house near the dock, her cape fluttering in the warm breeze. She had come out to steal from the human's world this night, donned with her black cloak, which covered her back and entire head, except for her eyes. A thin black cloth wrapped around her mouth, concealing it. Her spear was strapped to her back, and her sharp eyes flickered in the starlight. She was wearing no accessories except for her usual linen bandages on her front paw. She glanced down and saw another cat on the dock. The breeze was blowing her scent toward the thief, and she smelled like Gweillan. Kelvie tipped her head with interest. She didn't care if the other cat saw her, she would just be careful and try not to give away her identity if they spoke.

Muffled pawsteps caught Ailish's attention and she turned her head just in time to see another cat in a dark cloak step into a shadow. She squinted, but could still barely see their silhouette. The white cat clearly stood out among the darkness of the night, so she decided she wouldn't even try to pretend the hooded cat wouldn't see her. Getting up, she padded over to the shadow where the cat had been.
"Hi!" she mewed, "I could have sworn I was the only one out, you were so quiet!" As she approached, she realized that she was alone again, the other cat was already gone. She looked around, how could they have gotten away so fast? Oh, well, she sighed, they were probably busy. Suddenly, a shadow seemed to slip out of the corner of her eye.

Kelvie dodged around the white cat's sight, careful not to be seen too close. This cat was surprisingly friendly and open to someone who could easily be a murdurer luring her into the shadows. She dropped silently in front of her, tipping her head as she looked over the new arrival.
She didn't look all that strong, but looks could be deceiving. Kelvie said nothing, only stood in front of the white female, looking her over.

Ailish looked up and smiled at the other cat, "Hello!" she smiled, "Please don't hurt me, I'll give you tea!" She hoped that would do the trick, although it sounded slightly dumb. The other cat looked down from the roof of the building at her, blue eyes gleaming in the low light. The white cat suddenly realized that this cat could be a murderer, and her paw went to her dagger.

Kelvie cocked an eyebrow, slightly taken aback by the cat's offer. She noticed the stranger's paws go for her belt, probably housing a dagger. Kelvie tensed. She wasn't planning on hurting Ailish, but she wouldn't hesitate to retaliate if needed. Her spear tip gleamed in the moonlight, securely strapped to her back. She waited, crouching, ears pricked, waiting to see if the other cat would speak again.

"Hello?" she repeated, tilting her head at the she-cat on the roof. After a few moments of awkards silice, Ailish turned and walked back to her spot on the dock, wondering why the other cat had ignored her. She decided not to take it personally, but instead pulled a croissant out of her bag and took a bite. The flaky pastry made her smile, and forget the fact that there was another cat (possibly a killer) running around on the rooftops.

Kelvie snorted in annoyance when the other cat left so easily. Her eyes gleamed in the moonlight, there was no way to miss that she had been staring right at the other cat. She dropped to the alley below, walking on two legs as she emerged into the moonlight at the docks. "Yes?" She asked, though it was phrased more like a statement than a question. The cloth around her mouth muffled her voice, and her cloak fluttered in the breeze.

Ailish jumped at suddenness of the cat's arrival, "Oh, hi!" she smiled at her, unsure what else to say, "Would you care for a croissant? I've only got one left, but I can steal more," she beamed, taking the other pastery out of her bag. "It's chocolate," she handed it over to Kelive. "I should probably go get some more soon actually, it's not going to be night forever!" She smiled to herself. "Care to join me?"
She raised an eyebrow at the other cat, laughing quietly. "There's this place where the bricks in his wall aren't stuck together, and you can push them down and get in really easy."

Kelvie reached out, paused, then took the pastry. She held it for a moment before pulling down her cloak just enough to eat it. It was...amazing, simply put. She ate the whole thing, then nodded, eager to steal again. She turned and took a few steps, before looking back to the cat on the docks, waiting.

Ailish grinned at the other cat and jumped up, taking the lead, "This way," she nodded towards the buildings. Ducking into a gap between two shops she emerged in an alley so small, no human would ever fit in, however, it was perfect for two cats. Moss grew on the stone walls, made wet from the flow of water falling off the eves. A few ferns grew strait out of them as well. The two cats sped down the small pathway, for a few houses, until they came to a smaller, brick wall. Ailish signaled for Kelvie to stop, "Okay, so this is the plan: we'll both go in, then grab as many pastries as we can, then run out! We can just keep doing this, until we fill our bags, then leave!" The white cat beamed, she hadn't done this with another cat since her mother had gone on cake stealing expositions. Ailish pushed one brick out to look around, then when she was sure there was no humans lurking around, she pushed the rest down, creating a small hole, just the right size for two smaller cats to squeeze through.

Kelvie rushed through the streets, pulling up smoothly when Ailish signaled. She nodded in reply, trying to talk as little as possible, for the time being. She unstrapped her spear, which would have made it quite difficult to get in and out through the hole, and set it on the ground. She nodded to Ailish, signaling that she was ready to go in. Her cloak tugged in a breeze, revealing more of her brown fur for a second at a time.

The white she-cat beamed, she hadn't had this much fun in ages. The two cats darted in on soft, quiet paws, and Ailish paused to let the other cat survey the room. It was quite a sight to behold, although she had been there so many times, she hardly noticed it anymore. A lavish display of wedding cakes, donuts, danishes, sweet breads, tarts, and pies decorated the shop, laid out on shelves that covered the walls. So many times Ailish had caught herself practically drooling, she had to watch herself.
After a moment of beholding the wonders of the shop, the two cats set to work, they leapt onto the counter, taking as many pastries as they could hold, and darted back out. The two cats did this many times, until their bags were overflowing with sweets. When they came out the last time, Ailish could hardly stop laughing. "Come on!" She nodded, "I know a great place to eat these." She nodded to her new friend to follow her, and the two cats darted up the side of the building, onto the roofs. Ailish jumped from house to house, not looking back to see that Kelvie was following her, until they reached an especially tall one. The white cat climbed up it's side, digging her claws into the wood until she reached to top.
