[ I saw that this was one of the last places with no threads, so I couldn't help but slip a little roleplay in here C: Feel free to jump in, but please I would like to keep it One on One. thank you!~ ]
Order:
• Jet • Zahara
The marbled dancer halted, craning her neck back to stare up at the large building. It was the dusty mansion she had heard about, but where was that again? The East Quarter...? No, no that wasn't right. Her jowls slipped into a frown; what cat lived down here for 2 years - their whole life - and then get lost? Gwellian wasn't a small town, but it didn't subside her feeling of utter stupidity. Jet huffed, turning to walk away from the building. This was hardly a landmark, it wasn't going to help her. And there wasn't exactly anyone in there to ask for directions from. Wait, maybe there would be!
She turned on her heels, hope flickering in her blue eyes as she trotted up the steps. The sokoke dancer pushed the door open with a paw, hearing the hinges creak loudly in protest. Oh dear, she thought. This suddenly didn't seem like the best of ideas. She hadn't heard the rumors of the tom that had murdered his family. Far form it, all she knew was that the place was abandoned and seemed to attract curious kits like a magnet. Maybe one of them would be around to point her towards civilization. The thought made her steel herself, and she called out. "H-Hello?" He bell-like voice seemed to echo slightly, and she made herself jump. Her own jump made the bells strapped to her belt rattle, and a shriek ripped out her throat. She dashed away from the door, stopping a little ways away, panting. Her ears burned; suddenly, she really wished there was nobody around after all. That was downright humiliating!
She flicked her tail uneasily, her gaze flickering about. She just wanted to get home, and felt herself pout. Jet's bright blue eyes drifted back towards the house with what could only be described as the dainty she-cat's attempt at a scowl. Stupid mansion. Stupid dark, dusty, creepy mansion! Well, an old hunk of wood wouldn't scare her, no way! She got back up onto her hinds where she felt most comfortable, and took another peek inside through the open door.

( I'll jump in :3 )
Zahara had just been wiping the blood off of her knife with an old cloth, another job well done for her. When the shriek filled the air the assassin couldn't help but smile, perhaps the target had been found already, she was lucky she got away in time. After a few moments of intense listening she frowned, no cries were even heard, and after thinking about it, the shriek didn't even come from the direction of where she made a kill, perhaps another assassin killed a cat in the direction the shriek came from? Time to investigate.
Placing the now clean knife back in her belt, she got up on her hind legs and began to walk in the direction the shriek came from, and ending up approaching the old mansion, with a dancer she had befriended by the front door, fear flowing off of her pelt in waves. She must be the one who made the shriek. Once she was in distance to where the sokoke could hear her, Zahara called out to her in a teasing voice. "You're not afraid of a dusty old mansion, are you?"

Jet jumped, the she-cats voice reaching her ears at the same moment she caught the faintest smell of blood. The scent seemed quite diluted, and assuming it was just her, the dancer pushed the stomach-churning sense to the back of her mind. She glanced over her shoulder at the feline who had spoken, and recognized Zahara.
"No," the sokoke meowed curtly, "I'm afraid of what's inside it," Jet huffed. Her tail tip still twitching nervously, she backed away from the house again. Zahara was here, she could give her directions. But yet, something nagged at the pretty feline. She recognized the tugging feeling: curiosity. Also, with a slight urge to prove she wasn't a little kitten. "I was, erm, not lost. Nope! Not lost in the least. I was, er, going to explore the dusty mansion because, I-I was, um....bored?" She shrugged innocent, her mew high-pitched and kittish as well as her grin. Yeah, it wasn't as if she was trying to lie. She was just trying to cover up her fumble with what ended up as another fumble.
But doubt flickered in her blue eyes. What if that very faint smell of blood had come from inside the house?

Zahara rolled her eyes, "Bored, huh?" she snorted, cracking a grin. "Well, c'mon, I guess I can say I'm bored as well, let's explore." Shoving the old mansion's door open, the squeal of the rusty hinges filling the air. Stepping inside, the assassin couldn't help but wrinkle her nose at the stench. The smells of mold and decay filled her nostrils, what to be expected in such and old house. The assassin let out a couple of coughs. "This place isn't so bad, the only problem is the stench, someone should really plant some flowers and freshen up the place." Zahara rambled on, looking around the place. Cobwebs were a surplus in every corner of the room, and a rodent occasionally scurried across the floor, disappearing in a hole somewhere, and letting out a few squeaks..

Jet bit her lip uneasily, but nodded. She had gotten herself into this mess, she was going to pull through. Besides, with Zahara with her, it was only half as scary now, right? She clung hopefully to this thought as she followed the cloaked feline into the mansion, the smell making her wrinkle her nose. "Yeck, no kidding," she scowled as the discomfort in her face.
The dancer forced herself to focus on her other senses. "Something about this place doesn't make it easy to picture flowers in here," she mewed in reply, padding up to what she guessed was once a couch. Cobwebs hung lazily from the side, and Jet curiously bent over to take a peek underneath the seat. Her bright blue gaze adjusting to the dim light, she tried to see underneath the shadows. It was impossible to make anything out clearly, but at the sight of a bug's silhouette darting across her vision she let out another yip and jumped back, bumping into a small side table. Letting out a shaky breath, she forced a small laugh.
"Heh, b-bug," she grinned, but her heart still fluterred in her chest. How embarrassing! Zahara composed herself like she'd come in places like this all the time.

(Zahara probably has been in places like this XD )
"I'm curious on why this place has never been torn down." Zahara muttered, acting oblivious to Jet's yip from the bug. Walking a few steps away from the dancer, she gazed up at a painting on the wall, an eerie presence seemed to hang from it. The painting was a portrait of a cat whom the assassin assumed was the previous owner of the mansion. "Interesting." she said as she walked back to Jet, it was almost like she could feel the cat in the painting stare at her. "So where do you want to go next?" Zahara asked, looking around the room. "There seem to be a few hallways, and a staircase heading upwards." she added, sitting down and drawing a paw over her face. "I'll let you choose, I'm willing to go anywhere in this place."

The she-cat frowned softly in thought. She assumed saying she wanted to go outside the house wasn't the bravest of responses, so she curtly pointed with her tail and mewed, "Upstairs." Her bells tinkled softly as she didn't hesitate, moving up the stairs. That bug was taunting her from under the sofa. She just knew it.
The stairs creaked under her paws, and she stifled a whimper. What if she fell through right to the basement? What if she got trapped forever? Okay, now you're just begin immature, she reminded herself. When the dancer got pass how scary everything was, this place actually was pretty cool. Whoever had lived here previously was clearly of a high rank. The staircase was lined with an intriguing railing, soft swoops and swirls visible in the old, dusty wood. She imagined it was probably once very beautiful, and worth more alone than half the stuff in her own home.
Jet made it upstairs, not daring to glance back to see if Zahara had followed her. She didn't trust turning her back on this place, even for a second. At the top of the stairs stretched another hallway, many closed doors on either side. Alone at the end of the hall hung a single picture, larger than some of the portraits downstairs. It seemed to be that of a family; most of them smiling. But the dancer didn't smile. "A family lived here," she mewed sadly, wondering what had happened to them all. The place suddenly seemed somewhat more creepy.

( I feel like drawing some parts of this rp :U )
Padding up next to Jet, Zahara looked at the family portrait. "Then the rumors of a possibility of being true." she replied, frowning. Turning her head, she looked at the nearest door. Standing on her hind legs, she walked over to it and tried to turn the knob, the gears inside not turning all the way. "...Locked..." the assassin growled, lashing her tail. After thinking for a few moments, she got an idea. "Hold on-" Zahara said, pulling a small knife out of her belt and stuck it in the bottom of the lock, then sticking an unsheathed claw into the top. Keeping her ear close to the knob, she tapped her claw on the first pin until she heard a click that meant that she got the position right. As she applied pressure with the knife to the bottom, the lock slightly turned with each pin she got. The assassin continued this process until all of the pins were in place.
"Bingo." she smiled as the lock soon became unlocked, and the dorr knob turned. Opening the door, Zahara cautiously opened it, expecting a ghost to pop out or something. A creak from the hinges echoed through the mansion but behind the door was something to be expected, a bedroom, the master bedroom by the looks of it. Zahara walked further inside the room. Cobwebs and dust on everything, big surprise. There was a large bed in the room. "Man, I wish I had this bed in my house...you know...without the dust and mold." she meowed as she hit the top of the bed with a paw, causing a cloud of dust to fly into the air, as well as the assassin's jaws. She let out a few more coughs, waving a paw to get the dust away from her.

Jet's ears pricked slightly. "Rumors? Please, please tell me this place has a nice, bright story to it that might make it a little less frightening," she mewed, her bright blue eyes constantly darting about with unease. But she fell quiet when she saw what Zahara was doing, looking over her shoulder. The cloaked she-cat wiggled her claw into the lock, but the dancer couldn't help but fret that maybe this door was locked for a reason.
But she was in here because of curiosity, and she only hesitated slightly before following the secret assassin into the bedroom. "Whoa," she breathed. Only right for a mansion, the master bedroom was huge. The bed was, too, as Zahara also pointed out with a couple coughs. "This room is almost the size of my house," she exclaimed, poking and prodding things curiously, but constantly keeping the corner of her eye on her paws, just in case any bugs thought they could nibble on her toes and get away with it.
Her attention flickered over to what looked like a wardrobe. She crept towards it, keeping to her hind legs through most of the adventure. As a dancer, she spent so much time on her hinds it felt more comfortable, and sometimes more agile to her. If something was going to jump out at her, she'd rather be upright. But nothing jumped out at her as she gave the dresser a tug. There was no lock; it seemed age had gotten to it, and kept it firmly sealed shut. Jet bumped it slightly with her paws, hearing stuff shuffle inside. "Hey, Zahara, could you help me open this, I'm curious if there's anything in it more interesting than clothes," she glanced over her shoulder at the now dusty cat.
The sokoke however kept quiet about why she was wondering, though. At her own home, she'd always kept notes and important things tucked at the bottom of her drawers, hidden under whatever else she possessed of less value. Maybe they could find something cool in here? Jet felt her pelt prickle; she was rummaging through a dead cat's things. She REALLY hoped this mansion wasn't haunted.

"The rumors aren't very happy, no. A sage used to live here, but he fell into the clutches of dark magic, murdering his family." Zahara briefly retold the legend that she had heard from so many cats. When the dancer asked for the assassin's help, she nodded. "Sure." the tonkinese hybrid meowed, walking over on her hinds, grabbing on to the wardrobe's handle and positioning her feet so if the old thing opened suddenly and quickly, she wouldn't go flying backwards.
"Ready?" she said and began the countdown. "One, two, three, pull!" As both she-cats pulled, the dresser opened easily, though Zahara was slightly hesitant to look inside.

Jet's ears pricked happily and a smile tickled her lips as the other she-cat helped her pull out the drawer with ease. She was really beginning to hope she could call this cat a friend; after all, it was already pretty clear by now that if the cloaked cat wasn't here, there was no was Jet would've stepped paw in the creepy-ass house. Okay, maybe that wasn't the best of examples of their friendship, since the tabby still resented being in here.
She eagerly rummaged through the things in the dresser doors, tail flicking with thought behind her. "Yeck, this cat had horrible taste in clothes," she exclaimed, pushing aside a very lame-looking piece of fabric. She was still pondering where in the word a cat would put that when her paw touched something cold and solid.
The dancer yipped, pulling her paw back in a flash, but managing not to jump away from the furniture this time. Jet leaned back over it again, pushing some of the things aside to see what she actually had found was a cool, amulet necklace of some sort. "Pretty~" she mewed in a kittish voice, holding up the glistening accessory, "Although, I was hoping for something more on the lines of super-secret notes that would tell us everything about this place," her jowls slipped back into a grin. She set the gem down, not bothering to close the drawer in case Zahara wanted to take her turn peeking through it, as the dancer moved away from it.
She gazed around, the sense of the jitters slowly coming back to her.

Zahara gave a nod to the accessory, "I'm sure that will sell for quite a bit." she mewed before looking in the drawer herself, nothing else of value was in there, just worn out dusty clothes. "I don't think there's anything else of value in this wardrobe." she added, before getting an idea. Under the bed, everyone puts something under there, right? "Hold on a moment." she said, walking back over to the bed and kneeling down, moving the blanket out of the way. Turns out her theory was right, under the bed was a chest. Grabbing the side handle of the chest, she yanked it out from under the bed. And as expected when examining it, it was locked with a much more complicated lock than the one on the door.
"There's gotta be a key somewhere...but most likely it's hidden very well...." Zahara said, and began her search for the key.

Jet blinked in surprise. Sell it? She bit her lip; that would be stealing. What if they suddenly started getting extremely bad luck!? She wasn't an extremely superstitious type, but she couldn't shake the feeling that it would be a very bad idea. Plus, they would constantly run the risk of the intriguing patterns on the gold and silver to end up marking it as a family heirloom. A merchant could notice, and the marbled dancer definatly didn't feel like answering how her and Zahara broke into the old bedroom of an old house of an old rich dude. No thank you!
But Zahara's attention seemed to have been completely moved away to a chest from under the bed. Wait-chest? Jet moved to look at it as the clocked tonkinese mix shuffled about on the other end of the room searching frantically for a key. Jet clawed at the lock, and it simply managed to only chip one of her claws. She pouted inwardly; it had taken her forever to get them all that even. Sheathing her claws with shame, she glanced back over at Zahara. "If you had something extremely valuable, where would you hide a key?" She raised a brow, trying to think now as well.

Zahara paused for a moment, and then gazed at the painting on the wall, hitting her paw to her forehead, "Of course!" she mewed, "It's obvious!" Walking over to the painting, she took it off of the wall. Nothing showed, but if you were a professional thief, you'd know what to do, and Zahara happened to be a professional thief.
Knocking a paw on the wall, a satisfying hollow sound came from it. Smiling, she turned to Jet. "This section of the wall has a hollow sound coming from it, but there is no room on the other side, and see these dark marks right here?" The assassin pointed to the darkened part of the wall. "Most likely that's from constant opening, and if I push down here...It should become a handle..." Zahara pushed down on the dirtied portion of the wall and it clicked inwards, forming a handle. "Aha!" the she-cat said, sticking her paw into the newly formed handle, and pulled out. The small secret door opened easily, there were a couple things in the secret compartment, one being the key.

The tabby sucked in a breath in surprise. Zahara certainly knew a lot about these kinds of things. However the sokoke she-cat kept quiet; she wasn’t one to poke around on why some felines did that they did. Nobody ever mentioned her nimble fingers, just like how she never mentioned she used them to pickpocket toms that got a little too close to her. She pricked her ears, listening intently and nodding at what Zahara had explained about the hidden compartment. She was eager to learn something, and she felt her lips pull back into a smile.
“That’s so clever!” She exclaimed, “I didn’t know things like that existed,” Jet purred, flicking her tail and bouncing eagerly at the thought of finding out what could be in that dusty chest. Guess I’ll have to find somewhere more cunning to put my valuables other than under my pillow, the dancer thought ruefully. She skipped over to the chest, it’s musty old scent peeking her curiosity as she beckoned eagerly like a kitten for the cloaked feline to open it. You’d think Jet would’ve learned by now; after all, it had been curiosity that had gotten her in this exact mess!
