A tall tabby figured strolled along the streets of an ominous forest. The atmosphere was eerie but interesting to him also. The sun had just sunk behind the tree line, the gold rays of sun peeking through the dark grays of rain clouds. Where the lean tom was heading was a mystery, he had been wandering around the market almost all day, buying whatever could be useful in time and now he found himself in this dark forest. His paw pads were wet from the pouring rain that left him inside most of the afternoon. The sage’s light tan bag was heavier than it usually was from all the books, scrolls and other items that might be of some use, the weight dragged him down some, but he still continued to trudge on. The further he stepped into the forest, the darker it became. The surrounding forest becoming thicker. Francis could feel eyes watching is every move. After what seemed like hours, he finally stopped in his place, he could no longer stand the feeling of being watched. As quietly as he could he pulled out his old sickle out a pocket in his bag. He turned, looking for what might be stalking him, whatever might be a potential danger. A rustle came from a nearby bush, Francis swiftly turned towards the noise only to find a rabbit darting from one bush to another. How clueless could he be? No one lived in this area of the woods as far as he knew. The lean sage stepped over to a stump within a few lengths of his location at sat down and pulled out one of the books he had purchased that day. “Legends of Astronomy” He looked forward to devouring the knowledge this book had to offer, astronomy being a major hobby of his from a young age. Using the light of the full moon as a light, he started losing himself in the myths and stories each page had to offer.

It had been a quiet day for Devyn as he had decided to stay inside due to the rain. There wasn’t much to do inside his house except sleep so that was what he did and when he finally awoke he fund that the rain had finally ceased. Stretching each limb he got up form his beaten up old couch and wandered out the door. He hadn’t taken anything; his dagger, cloak and bag were all inside the shabby little house he owned in the Eastern Quarter. He didn’t feel as though he’d need them today however. Today he was just going for a walk. And the more he walked aimlessly the more bored he became until he happened upon the entrance to the Witches Hollow. He’d heard stories about this place as a young kit and he’d often scare his younger brother with stories of his own. He had never been inside though and since he had nothing better to do he padded in.
That forest was dark on the inside and the farther he got from the small entrance the less light was visible. Even the entrance that had been a bright tunnel of light just a few paces back had now become a bleak dark hole that was almost invisible to anyone looking at it. He kept on forward though, he refused to let the lack of light get to him but the farther in he got the weirder it felt. Every now in then he would hear noises that he couldn’t explain, or wanted to explain for that matter so he just kept going. Through his meaningless walking he stumbled upon someone else who seemed to have wanted to explore the forest, they however, were reading a book. An interesting looking book too. ”What’s that?” Devyn asked with out even a hello.

His heart almost leapt out of his white chest at the sound of another cat. Through he tried to remain calm. Francis forced himself to breathe normally and keep is cool façade. “It’s a book I bought this morning.” He said calmly, holding up the book to the stranger, one of his toes being a bookmark as he held out the leather cover. The “Legends of Astronomy” part of it being rather defined in the dappled moonlight. “I just started it, but I believe I’ll enjoy it.” Francis started to ramble on, like he did about books and literature, and especially astronomy, a love of his since he was a kit. Francis stood up, stretched his long legs and slowly stepped over to the gray cat. He was cautious though, he’s heard many stories of cats getting ambushed, beaten and mugged by strangers. He knew very well that not all cats were like that, but you could never be too careful could you? Francis took a moment and studied tom with a curious glint in his bright yellow eyes. With another step forward, Francis stepped into a large puddle left from the afternoon rain. Trying to ignore the freezing chill that ran up his body, he held out a snow white paw towards the stranger with a formal greeting. “Name’s Francis.”

Devyn looked at the book with curiosity, almost reaching out and taking it so that he could look at it for himself. Lately he'd been more interested in reading in than before and the stars had always held his interest as a kit. As the stranger stood and walked over to him Devyn wondered whether or not he was hostile. He didn't seem like the type but then again looks could be deceiving. Whatever though, meeting some thug with a good book was better than meeting some witch with a good spell to try out on you any day. At his introduction Devyn wondered if he should share hi name. It'd been a while since he'd introduced himself to civilian looking felines and after a moment or two of though he though, why not? "Name's Devyn. So what brings you out here? Surely there are better places to read than the middle of some creepy forest?"
