Hope twitched his ears back slightly and came to a sudden halt as his gaze directed to the ground with his arms still crossed behind his head. His facial expression turned stern and slightly serious. After a few moments, he spoke,"I wouldn't know." he said as he brought his paws from the back of his head and crossed them in front of his chest as his tail hung low and his tip twitched. His ears perked forward as he muffled out a sigh. "I'm not around enough to hear what they say about me. If I was..." he paused, laying his ears back. "...I wouldn't be stuck there still." he mumbled out as he brought on paw up and placed it on the back of his neck. "I pretty much just stopped believing in that sort of thing."

Devyn frowned. "Don't listen to what they say, listen to what you think. Your opinion's all that matters in the end." Others don't usually understand the most important things anyways.. Devyn knew that much. Most cats saw him as one of those petty thieves without any morals. But Devyn knew he was more than that, and to him that's what counts. He frowned even more at Hope's next comment though. "Why though? You shouldn't give up on something like that."

Hope heaved a low sigh as he turned his head to look in the direction away from Devyn. "Kinda hard not to." he mumbled out, blinking and letting a moment pass by before speaking again. "Why do you think I'm not much to hang around there?" he asked him, looking back at him with a blank kind of stare, but it wasn't harsh. Again for some moments, silence passed between them as he held his gaze on Devyn. Finally after some moments, he uncurled his arms from being crossed and put his paws on his fists as he merely gave a shrug. "People are mostly just a mystery to me." he grumbled under his breathe as his ears twitched to Devyn's next question, turning with his whole body to look at him with his head tilted slightly to a side. "Well, because it gets tiresome to believe in something that won't happen." he said in a kind of matter-of-factly voice, but didn't sound angered when saying it, but his words felt rather..hollow.

Devyn twitched an ear. He had a point. Had Devyn ended up in the Orphanage when he was orphaned he would have most likely left after a few months and not hung around often. And it couldn't be easy watching others getting picked by loving families over oneself and being left there. "Yeah I get'ya.." he said eventually. Not much left to say so Devyn just continued walking on alongside the cat.

As Hope and Devyn carried on, Hope didn't think to say that much for some long moments from the previous comment he made. He laid his ears back, giving a hard face as if thinking over something in his mind before he turned to look up at Devyn with a cocked head and slight grin. "But from talking to you for this little bit, you seem like a pretty cool guy compared to others I see." he said in a warm kind of tone before he turned his head straight, paws crossed behind it as he slouched it back to look up at the sky as they walked, the barely cloudy sky seemed un-moving as they went on. "and I guess saying something like that would be a little bit of a lie, I mean-" he stopped, turning his tilted up head up at him. "-Who wouldn't want a family? It's just hard to try to be happy about something you don't have I guess." he said with a sigh, his eyes closed slightly, his little grin still on his face.
