Astrid swayed with the wind and the branch she sat upon, looking down to undergrowth bellow. Thinks had been slow at the market place, so she'd went to the woods in search of something to do. Out of the corner of her eye, she swore she saw something, not quite visible, as the pine trees needles acted as a shudder of sorts.

Kelvie flit through the woods, her cloak fluttering. Suddenly, she froze. Pricking her ears, she turned slowly to look into a nearby willow tree. A breeze tugged at her black cloak that covered her back and her whole face but her eyes. She saw a shape higher in the tree. Kelvie narrowed her eyes. This was a cat from her Kingdom, but she had never seen the she-cat before. Darting up the tree next to her, Kelvie perched right across from the other she-cat, at the ready. She didn't know what rank this other cat was. She stared silently at the other cat, one paw ready to grab the spear strapped to her back.

That blur scrambled up a nearby tree, quickly morphing into the shape of a fellow feline. Out of instinct, her paw hovered near her dagger. Then she noticed that in reality, this person appeared to be just as nervous as she was. Releasing the hilt she felt it slide back into the sheath with a clank. "Hey, there's no need to freak, I don't bit much." Then as an afterthought, "Um, who are you exactly?" She didn't recognize this cloaked though not very shady cat, and was curious.

Kelvie narrowed her eyes. This cat thought she was afraid? Pfft, as if. Kelvie let her paw lower from her spear sheath, and used a name she had come up with earlier. "Ember." Kelvie replied to the she-cat's question, not wanting to give away her own name. If she had wanted cats to know who she was, she wouldn't have been wearing her cloak.

"Oh. Um okay." Astrid mewed, a bit uneasy from this 'ember''s response. But she persevered, or at least tried to be amiable and continued this odd conversation. "I'm Astrid. Can I ask why your out here?"

Kelvie, or 'Ember's' paw dropped from where it had been hovering by her spear. "I could ask you the same question." She pointed out. She leaned back against the tree trunk, her cloak rubbing the rough bark. "Because I like just walking around in different places."

Astrid couldn't help but be glad that she'd put this Ember at ease enough to lower her paw. Ember certainly wasn't without a little humor, or maybe just sarcasm, but the storyteller wasn't afraid to use it either, not that she felt like doing so now. "Well I'm here for basically the same reasons as you." "Where'd you get that cloak? You seem to have been using it a lot, and I prefer things that hold up for awhile."

Ember blinked. "My father sewed it for me when I was small." She admitted. It wasn't really a deep or personal story, so it was one she didn't really mind sharing. "He's dead now, though."

"Well he most have been very talented." Astrid commented, wondering what he had done for a living, which made her wonder what Ember did, and then she found out that aforementioned cat had died. "Well that's awful." Not wanting for their conversation to die out on such a black note she inquired, "So what you do for a living?"

'Ember' was hesitant to reply. She was sure no one knew of a Jeweler named Ember, but she went with it anyway. "I work as a Jeweler." She said. She didn't say anything about being a thief- the main reason she normally wore her cloak- and instead left it at that.

Astrid hadn't heard of many jewelers at all, so she had no idea that Ember was lying. "Oh cool! That must be fun, getting to make such beautiful things, and then have people buy them. Where"s your shop? I'd like to check out sometime." She said, curious and wondering if she'd be allowed to see what Ember's wares looked like, as this cat had seemed a bit hesitant to answer at first. Maybe she was just starting up or something.

[Umm, no.. XD and I don't know where Kelvie's shop is either so XD]
Ember was quick to answer, giving the she-cat exact locations of her, Kelvie's, shop. "I help a cat called Kelvie." She said. She crouched on her branch, her eyes-the only part of her face uncovered by her cloak- flicking over the other cat's body.

Astrid listened intently, committing the address and sector of the realm to memory, as it wouldn't be a good idea to forget, as it would be hard to find Ember again otherwise."Oh. Maybe I'll stop by sometime." She watched the brownish cat crouch on her perch, and wondered if it might be wish to stop prodding.

Ember nodded, blinked, and sprang to to branch a tail-length above her, hanging by her forepaws. She bobbed a little with the motion of the branch. She was just waiting for the other cat to do something, she really wasn't the type for conversation in this 'state.'
