Astrid waved goodbye to the young trouper, recalling how it was refreshing for someone to ask for something more towards the comic end once in awhile. He'd paid her more than she'd expected, so clearly that story could be filed away to be told again. Brushing the sand of her fur, Astrid decided to swim awhile while the waves weren't to bad, as some days she'd been here they'd been very angry to say the least. Diving into the water, she paddled toward the bottom, bubbles leaving a silvery circular trail behind her. The storyteller examined the mixture of seaweed shells before her. Then finding that the objects where not to her liking, she swam up to shore. Shaking the water from her fur she almost didn't hear the person behind her.

Roran padded casually out onto the sand, dropping down onto all fours to feel the soft sand between his toes. He saw a two cats. One seemed to be wrapping up a story and money was exchanged before the She-cat headed off to the water for a dip. He wondered if she was a story teller like himself. He padded to the edge of sand, not realizing he was still on all fours. She had come back up to the surface and he sat down. "Hello! Its a beautiful day today isn't it?"

The sudden movement caused her body to tense as soon as it was noticed ready for what ever danger might be thrown her way. But it appeared to be amiable a oak colored tom, coming her way on all fours. "Yes, the weather is certainly pleasant.as is the water." Glancing at a sand smothered paw her agile eyes noticed that though they where not extremely rough like those of a farmer, the appeared to have slightly more tough parts in such the same place she did. So a writer or a fighter or both? "Are you a storyteller?" Astrid asked, hoping he wouldn't mind the question.

[Sorry for the delay in my reply, my sister and friend dragged me with them to the store to buy some junkfood. Bikes aren't the fastest mode of transport, and coupled with homework you get an hour late post ^^;]

Roran tilted his head and smiled "Yeah, how did you know?" He asked and stood up on his back legs brushing his paws off on his fur. "Are you?" He asked back, remembering the person she was talking to earlier. "No many cats like to swim. Who taught you how?" He asked intrigued.

In answer to this tom's question Astrid replied, "Well, the main thing that made me wonder was the fact that your pads are rough, but not everywhere, as if only certain parts are used frequently, and they are similar in location to mine. As I do a lot of writing as well as working with my blades, I figured that you could be either be a storyteller or someone with a love of swordplay. Storyteller seemed a bit more likely, maybe because of you seem to be a rather outgoing person, something useful when it comes to aforementioned profession." The conversation paused as he removed the sand. "Yes, I am a storyteller myself." Astrid gave a small smile. He wasn't so unobservant himself. "Well I lived on a ship as kit, so as I was on a ship most of the time it wasn't to long before I started to learn. My Dad taught me, after the ship had a close call with the human kingdom's ship."
"So besides telling tales, what do you like to do?"

Roran rubbed his paw on his chin and then looked down at it as she spoke of roughness and writing. He noticed what she ment. He was impressed. "Yeah, I like to write a lot, but I also do swordsmanship as well." He smiled. In only a few moment she already knew about half of his life. "I haven't been here long though, or have I been telling stories as a profession long either." He remembered all the crazy stories him mom used to tell him as a kit, and how after he picked up the habit, his father thought it foolish and useless and tried to break him of it, and he almost succeeded. "My dad never liked stories, but once I moved out and met my uncle, he was quite the character. He brought out the best in me and my brother." He smiled. "A ship huh?" He thought about the Blue Bloods. "Thats pretty neat"

Astrid listened intenetly, glad to see that he wasn't to unnerved by her observation, as well as he fact that he seemed to share two of her biggest hobbies. "You don't exactly have a uninteresting childhood either." She pointed out. "Your uncle seems to to be a nice cat. Out of curiosity, what does he do?"

Roran wasn't so sure how interesting his life had been, he was just glad to be where he was now. "My uncle?" He laughed. "What did't he do? He was an old retired cat living on his own by the sea. He didn't live here in this city, he lived north of here. But he travels here for supplies on occasion. He sang, danced, played instruments. He just enjoyed life." He missed the old furball already. He should visit or write him sometime. "What bout your family?

"Well, my mom and dad are off at sea right now, and as their occupation was a rather dangerous one, I can't be sure if they'll be back. Other than them, I don't really have any family, just friends." She paused a second, trying to think of something to keep this conversation going. "You said your a swordsman, how good at it are you exactly?" She couldn't quite tell if he was better or worse than she, as though she was better than a lot of cats, Astrid knew there where plenty above her in skill as well.

"Ahhhh... well I wouldn't brag much. I haven't been training for too long. But I'm working on it. I think I got some of the footwork down." He didn't have his sword on him today. "I got an old sword. Its on its last legs" He felt bad that her parents left her like that for such long periods of time. He wondered what they did when she was young? Did they still travel, and leave her behind?

Roran's face was a bit different from before. Was he upset about his sword or the way her her parents had left? Because she liked this feline and figured he probably wouldn't mind knowing told him something she normally left out of the story "You know, they where very loving cats. They left me behind because they figured that I'd be safer on shore, the pirate life wasn't very gentle." Then Astrid got an idea. "Do you think we could do some swordplay sometime? We could used quarterstaffs because they aren't very sharp, but I know a blacksmith who hopefully wouldn't mind me borrowing some dull ones for a day."

He shuffled his foot "Yeah I'm sure it is" His mind flicked to the Blue Blooods. They where pirates. He was a pirate.... He still couldnt think of leaving any future kits behind, at least not for too long. But the sea was no place for kits. His eyes then lit up at her idea.
"Yes! That does sound like a good plan" He closed his eyes in a warm smile. "Although I have to admit, I'm not really the best at it." He laughed. He needed a lot of good practice.

Astrid smiled back. "Well, hopefully practice will improve both our talents. Where do you think we should meet? Maybe at the market in the east quarter? I'd say the Forest but that place is a bit big to find someone specific. I don't know where you usually work, but it's where I tell most of my stories."

Roran shrugged "Sounds good to me. I don't know that many places around here, and I don't really go places in particular to do my work, but the market is a place that I've been before. " He nodded vigorously "That sound like a deal to me! Practice is the best way to improve ones talent." He wadded out into the water. It felt cool and nice on his paws. "The water feels really nice" He remarked and waded out till his belly fur brushed the water while on all fours.
