((Great title FTW lD))
It was a new day for life in the orphanage as Hope was getting ready to head out. He didn't know where exactly he was going to go; but anywhere that isn't here was good enough for him. Fixing up his scarf wrap, bringing it up to his nose so it pretty much had covered his mouth he began to head out of his room door. It was early and it was perfect for him to be to slip out unnoticed. Closing the door slowly behind him he began to walk down the hallway nice and quiet to avoid any noise. He had a plan now to maybe slip out and travel to and along the edge of the forest. Maybe he could find a few things to mess around with, but pretty much the main plan for now was that he could get out. Finally he was able to make it to the front door and quickly move out into the open. Oh it was a nice day with a slight wind buffeting his fur as he began to walk on his way towards the forest. So far so good.

Piper had been feeling much the same as the other orphan when we awoke, the difference had been that that had taken place in the late hours of the night. Rising and slipping quietly out of the orphanage she had made her way to the closest edge of the woods. Sitting on a little stump and watching the sunrise the young she-cat sighed sadly. Something about the orphanage...it just pulsated loneliness and melancholy.
Pulling out her pan-pipes Piper began a wavering sweet melody she made up as she went along. Using the gorgeous sunrise as her inspiration the tabby-patterned youth set about creating a tune so sad and sweet she hoped one day with some tweaking and improvements might bring tears to the eyes of emotional cats. Maybe, just maybe music would be her way out... Pausing her eerie playing she experimented with some words in her honey-ed voice.
Dance little leaves on the hard tundra, turning. The chilled autumn wind, hearth fires are burning. The reds and the yellows. the crisp gentle oranges, inside toasting little marshmallows. The crackle and crunch of soft paws a-going Autumn morning is gorgeous and glowing.
Piper stopped to mull over the words and muttered to herself under her breath as she tried other verbs and colors.

As Hope started walking into the woods, he paused as he tail twitched and curve lightly around his ankles as he crossed his arms and looked around. "Now let's see what we have arou-Ah-hah!" he said his eyes brightening as he dashed over to an old fallen log with some medium-lengthed branched on and around it. He bent down to pick a perfect one from the ground and managed to yank off another perfect specimen from the fallen log. Making a chuckle to himself as he examined them both he'd decided they do quite nicely.
Hope then breathed deeply for a moment and adjusted his ears slightly as he rested against the fallen log with some quaint rocks that were stuck into the ground around him. He closed his eyes, lifting both paws to a weird stance and sat from for a moment until a single ear twitched as he began to beat the sticks against the various rocks. Each one making a different sound due to there different sizes.
Clickety clack, click click clank, click click , clunk~
It may sound like just some nuisance of a noise, but Hope was turning it into a merry little beat and almost lost himself until he perked his ears to a sudden new sound and stopped at once. "Huh?" he wondered allowed as the new and wonderful sound continued and jumped to his feet, his sticks still in his paws. The wind buffeted his fur, as if to push him towards the sound; to find out what it is. He twitched his ears back as his curiousity now got the best of him and began to travel in the direction of the new sound until spotting a figure. Seeing new figure made him flinch aback and quickly hid behind a tree, keeping distance from the girl. Maybe she didn't see him? He thought so at first since the music stopped, but then was reassured by the sudden sing-song voice as Hope dared to look over his shoulder to get another peek, still undetected.

Piper yawned slightly tired from her early rising. Spending a few moments in silence staring at the red-gold color of the sunrise she began to hum her little melody again going over the words in her head so that she wouldn't forget them before she had a chance to finish her song. Piper tootled out an old church tune she had learned awhile ago in the orphanage and then stand up she stretched her slender frame and yawned again. Crouching down she put a napkin on the stump she had been sitting on a moment ago. With a small smile she began unloading her pilfered breakfast. A few freshly baked buns a small jar of honey, a filched apple pie and a flask of fruit juice. "Yummy" she purred to herself sitting down the the grass next to the stump and dipping one of the hot buns into the jar of honey.
Piper chewed on her bun thoughtfully and mused aloud between bites to the blue stuffed-cat she had taken out of her bag. "It's missing something Vector...it needs...something." The tan-patterned female sighed and took another bites "Bells maybe...something that chimes...but how do I play it like that...I don't have enough paws for bells and my pan-pipes..." Giving a small giggle she patted the plushie "I don't suppose you know how to use bells, Vector?"
Sorry it's short I have to go take my dogs out so it was a little rushed ^u^

(( Sorry for such a late reply D: I'll try harder to reply more frequent ;A; ))
Hope continued to stay put from behind his little post by the tree, making sure to stay hidden in the shadows to not be spotted. At first, he find it quite odd for her to be talking to a doll, but then again, it's good company if you think about it. He twitched his ears at the mentioning of 'something missing' and it peeked an interest to him. Bells? Chimes? Maybe something else could be of service. He turned back from looking at her, looking down at the two sticks grasped in his paws and began thinking. 'Hmm...' he thought as he grasped them tightly in his paws and looked back over at her, thinking over again if he should dare come out. Laying back his ears, he swallowed down his confidence and tried to make himself not look as nervous as he felt.
"Well, how about something like this?" he spoke, emerging from the shadows with the sticks grasped tight as he walked over to a hollow log that was near. He knelt down to it, lifting his sticks high and taking a deep breath as he shut his eyes and let his mind be his guide as he began to beat against the log to a rhythm, something similiar to the tone she played and twitched his ears and head towards her. "It's not bells..." he said as he opened his eyes with a sweet-face. "...but it's got a beat to it." he said with a small smile as he turned his attention back to resume the beats. "I-I was in the woods when I heard your little song-" he paused, lifting his sticks in the air, and pointing one at her. "-sounded really good, perked my curiousity." he stated, drawing the stick down, as he plopped down to sit.

The presence of an eavesdropper in the woods may have surprise or scared some cats but then Piper was not 'some cats'. Completely unperturbed by the other young cat's appearance she sat in silence and let him speak his fill, seemingly aware that interrupting him may cause him to become hesitant. Piper's rather over-large ears twitched slightly with the beat as she listened to him play his rhythmic make-shift instrument. The sound really was quite appealing and she knew exactly how to make it perfect for her song. He needed a metallic base...maybe a pot or can...? she mused to herself while he finished his beat.
When the tom finished he made to sit down and Piper scooched over a bit so he could sit next to her. "That was very nice" she mewed, her sweet tinkling voice friendly. "I think it could be just the thing I need. Maybe if you played on something harder that would have more of a ring to it...it really is a nice sound. Percussion instruments do tend to make for great beats. Oh! I'm sorry, I'm being rude. My name's Piper and this stuffie is my doll, Vector. I was just having something to eat, would you like some?" the young she-cat held out the jar of honey and the little bag full of freshly baked buns. "They make for a wonderful breakfast!"
Piper smiled at the tom "I'm quite glad you happened to be in the forest. There's not many folks around you see. I come from the orphanage, but I don't tend to talk to other kids very much, it's good that you were here to show me that lovely talent of yours. So what's your name?" deciding she had babbled long enough the she-cat grabbed a bun, dunked it in honey and stuffed it in her own mouth to cease her chatter.
Ooc: No problem! ^U^

[[So sorry that it took me so long TTATT]]
Hope twitched his ears over at Piper, spinning his two sticks in his paws before clapping them together in one paw and setting them beside him. He took a paw and rubbed the back of his head, suddenly feeling embarrassed by the fact he just bluntly expressed his little secret talent out like that. "Heh, you think so? It's not really all that great." he stuttered out a bit before directing his attention back at her. "Hardest things you got out here are rocks and trees though, lemme know if you find anything harder." he joked as he got to his paws, dusted himself off and walked over, extending a paw. "Nice to meet ya." he said, his mouth covered by his scarf-wrap as he tilted his head. "The orphanage eh? Funny. I've never seen you around there before." he took his paw away, before sitting down again on the ground, paws behind his head as he rested against the stump.
"Then again, I'm pretty much up and out any chance I get to leave that place." he said with a hallow chuckle. He gave a sniff to smell the sweet aroma of the buns and turned to them. "Oh woah, they look great!" he said, taking one of the buns. Usually, he wasn't this comfortable around strangers especially expressing his little secret hobby out to anyone, but to him they seem to be coming from a similar background, making him comfortable to talk to her. He took the bun and gave a CHOMP before speaking again. "Sweet! Kinda reminds me of a friend's baking." he mumbled as he swallowed. Then twitched his ears as he swallowed it down, beating his chest to clear his throat to look at her. "Oh, name's Hope."

Piper grinned at the odd, unsure tom cat about her own age, it was weird to come across other kids and even stranger that they both hailed from the orphanage but never met each other before. The other's strange talent with the percussion beats amused Piper, maybe it was only kids who really had a full grasp of things musical. Nobody these days seemed to really feel the music the way he and she did. Nobody nowadays could play from the heart like that. "It's really quite good!" she mewed smiling "I've never really played much percussion, mostly just wind-instruments. Oh and my Mama used to have a piano when we had our house"
Piper took another bite of her bun and chewed thoughtfully, musing about the orphanage that now served as shelter if nothing else. It was good to meet someone kind of like her who could understand how she felt through similar experience. "I've never really seen you either but I'm usually either sneaking out to the market or sitting in the attic..."
Piper munched away happily occasionally tapping her footpaws on the ground to make a beat. "So are you excited for the Gala?" she asked her eyes alight with a excitement and fervor most uncommon in the young folk, it was burning desire. "I'm going to perform there!" she blurted happily. "I'm making my dress myself, shhh it's up in the attic but no one knows! The other kids would just ruin it...but i think I can trust you" she beamed at the tom her bright green eyes confidant.

Hope twitched his ears forward, listening intently at what Piper was saying as he took the sticks in both paws once more and began to bang softly on the trunk to make a beat. He chuckles once, but kept at it. "Well, I've never played anything." he admitted fully. "Mostly just comes and goes. Though when it comes..." he paused for a moment before banging the two sticks together in a rhythm then pounding rapidly against it as if in a line then clamped them back together in one paw. "...it doesn't stop. Never had the chance to actually learn though..." he said, his voice going from a happy tone to a hollow one from the mentioning of a mom..or family in general.
For a moment, he looked distant as he stared forward for a few moments then shook his head roughly, giving back his shy smile as he laid against the log stump again with his paws behind his head. "Oh that's cool, I usually just wonder anywhere I can. Wanna know the world before I leave here for good." he said in a happy tone as he turned his head over to look at her. "Oh sure, I'm not really one for parties, but at least it gets me out unnoticed. That's a good place to hide it, I wouldn't trust some of these kids. Grabby paws." he said with a chuckle as he lifted one paw, making a thumb up. "I won't say a word, believe it!" he swore.
"And I don't mean to brag or anything, really, but I think what I got cooked up for my costume is a certainly a new fashion statement." he said then shrugged. "Despite it being...rather ridiculous considering I'm not the best tailor around." he said, scratching his head, embarrassed.

OOC: I finally managed to get the forum up and working on my computer, I think I even know how to prevent the problem now too ^U^
Piper saw the tom's face drop after she had mentioned the piano and her Mama. Piper wondered if the tom had lost his Mama too. Maybe he'd even lost his Daddy and Brother as well. Maybe he still saw blurry images of his infancy...Piper hesitated about to say something. But then maybe he didn't.
Piper loved to talk about music almost as much as she liked to play it and she enjoyed talking about percussion, beats and the feeling music gave her. Piper grinned widely as he talked about wandering. "I know we aren't supposed to go far from the Orphange but I've been all other most of the kingdom. One day I'm going to even go in the Palace! I'm sure of it Hope! Because that's what I have-hope! I love exploring and..." Piper dropped her voice to a whisper "I even hunt in the woods then sell stuff I caught or made in the market! One day I'm gonna have enough money to buy my own Pirate ship and sail away to explore the rest of the world!"
Piper listened to him discussing his tailoring skills in making his own costume "I sewed my own dress, it's not perfect but it's extra-special cause I made it!" she purred "I'm sure your costume will be great!" she mewed confidently curious as to what Hope had decided to go as for the Gala and festival.
