Ever cooling breezes cast their chilly spell across the land with every light gust of wind under the dark of night. Glistening stars above shown brightly through an overcast setting, which had not only touched the sky but seemed to kiss the earth as well in a light, patchy, early morning fog. Ivory and pale redwood fibers danced through the chill, a pair of mustard yellow hues glanced up at nature's canvas above from within the peak of a tall oak tree. Each swift push of brisk winds caused for the massive plant's top to quake in it's path in such a way that tiny paws had to hold tightly onto the rough surface of a rather thin branch to prevent an unwanted fall. Nevertheless, daybreak had quickly befell the Human Kingdoms casting a pale light from the east that would slowly eat away the darkness around her. Nil's skull craned slightly towards the rising sun only to quickly shift back towards the westward sky so that she could gather up those last few moments of memories and peace. Slowly easing her paw away from the scratchy surface Nil's paws both lay within her lap, her limbs dangling below her, to slightly fidget nervously with her little plush companion; Syn.
Rays of light had started to peek through the colourful shifting shades of gold, red, and brown leaves. Nil's eyes winced slightly for a moment, having been up most of the night, as they adjusted to the daylight where at last Nil's glance fell downwards towards the earth. Grasping the handle of her pouch that lie across her form the little kit reeled it up towards her so that she could gently place her little dragon friend within it's confines next to her ocarina and shilling pouch so that her paws would be free for a decent. Allowing herself to fall forward the kitten held her forearms outward so that she could snag a branch on her way down, swinging herself to a more steady branch below her original seat. Hind limbs stood as tall as they could be if only for a moment, Nil's form quickly grasped the trunk of the tree with sharp claws ripping out loose pieces of bark until the cat hat felt her paws touch the cool damp grasses below.

It was the time of day where light and dark were one, a brief moment in time when the Sun and Moon shared the same sky. The stars were fading fast in the early morning light, weak rays of sunlight dancing through the autumn foilage off the coast of Gweillan. Some branches were completely devoid of leaves as they had already begun to fall from the trees. They blew across the forest and out onto the beaches of Hanavaria Shores, where they swirled in circles before settling lightly on the sand. The sun rose steadily in the sky, casting shadows on the beach, and throwing light onto the forms of two cats curled up by the dunes. One was roan hued, stocky and currently fast asleep. The other cat was a dark russian blue, and he was beginning to wake up.
Raven Kingsflight slowly opened his eyes to greet the dawns first light. His pale blue eyes were still fogged with sleep as he sat up, gently rubbing his face and letting out a yawn, teeth glinting. Rolling his shoulders lightly, he looked to his left, where Elm was still fast asleep, snoring slightly. Raven smirked down at him and then braced himself on the ground before standing, stretching his arms out to warm up his lazy muscles. He then crouched back down, reaching into the pouch on his belt which lay off to the side, and pulled out his amulet. He straightened, slipping the necklace over his head and adjusting it until it sat properly on his chest. Raven yawned again and then walked over to where the tide was going in and out. He dipped a toe in, sighing contendedly as the cool waters engulfed his toes.
After enjoying the cold sensation for a momen longer, Raven turned back towards Elm. "Hey sleepy head," he meowed, reaching Elm's side and nudging his friend with his rear paw. "Wake up. We're almost there."

The roan norwegian forest tom was out cold before Raven nudged him, the lulling sound of his friend's voice bringing him out of dreamland and into consciousness. He was sleeping on his side with his head on top of his worn leather messenger bag that night, and upon being poked he stirred gently making a short series of unappealing grunting and moaning sounds as he woke. Rolling himself onto his back, he stretched all four of his paws into the air, flexing every white-socked toe and claw in a dramatic display- very typical of Elm. When he was satisfied, he collected his bag and pushed himself up onto his hind legs. He heaved it onto his right shoulder with ease, and opened the flap to make sure all his possessions were there; a dagger, some shillings loose in the bottom, and most importantly, his journal and ink. Check, check and double check. He was always the kind to be paranoid about thievery in the night as he slept. The sharp autumn breeze made his fur stand on end and his long, already poofy tail poof up even more. The shivers ran up and down his spine, and he began trembling.
"Are you sure?" he asked his navy blue friend, his voice creaking with disuse as he rubbed the dried tears from his bright green eyes, trying to hide the fact that he was cold. "I'd like to get to Gweillan before winter comes." he said sarcastically, before looking over at Raven expectedly.
(WHAT THE FFFFFFF- I THOUGHT I REPLIED WHAT IS THIS Lemee know if it isn't long enough or something ^^; I'm a bit rusty~)

Sharp claws retracted back form wince they came, parting the feline from the massive tree trunk. Variously sized pieces of bark had lie displaced across the ground from where the kit had made her way down. Ivory paws pressed through the frail blades of young grass sprouting tickled Nil's limbs with every movement she made. Straightening her dark, fleece, scarf slightly in between her soft pink pads so that the long ends draped down her spine. Slipping one foot past the other Nil begun a swift march forward to wherever her little paws took her to, of course, and it was clear that she'd neared the shoreline. The sweet sound of gentle waves caressing over the soft beach sands soon phased through her ears but this wasn't the only sound. Voices, groggy from the early daze of morning were also not far off. Clutching her little doll tightly Nil's ears swerved from left to right pinpointing the sound at last, closer than she had expected, there had been two yearlings lingering by the waters edge though perhaps more one than the other. Both curious and cautious Nil approached slowly, seeking shelter from the duo's line of sight behind a thin tree. Dull yellow eyes stared intently for a moment, lifting their gaze only to check behind herself every few moments. /OOC Sorry for the shortie post. D:

Raven laughed loudly when Elm began to wake up. He was always so grumpy in the morning, it was funny. Everyday, they went through the exact same thing. Raven had always been an early riser but Elm could sleep through a parade. "Aww, aren't you just adorable," he cooed, already buckling his belt around his waist and making sure his blade was sheathed. "You're like an old she-cat sometimes, I swear." Probably too sleepy to respond, Elm ignored him and Raven rolled his eyes he watched his friend go through his morning routine. "C'mon Elm, are the theatrics necessary?" he teased. "I mean, there aren't even any she-cats around!" As his friend rustled through his bag a bit, Raven double checked his own items, looking up when Elm hauled his satchel onto his shoulder, clearly ready to get going.
"Are you sure? I'd like to get to Gweillan before winter comes."
Raven groaned, and cuffed Elm's ear. "Must you always be so sarcastic?" he asked, crossing his arms. After a moment, he let his paws drop, sighing drmatically. "C'mon you idiot," he meowed fondly, leading the way up the beach.
"It shouldn't be more than a half a days walk," Raven remarked, trekking through the sand. They were near the treeline, and beyond that, it was only a few hours walk to Gweillan. "We'll be there in no time."
A sudden shift in the wind made Raven pause. Another cat's scent drifted in on the breeze, and he tensed, paw already on the hilt of his sword. "Someone's there," he breathed so only Elm could hear him. Raven stepped forward lightly, paws barely making a sound on the soft sand. A small tree stood in front of them, and though the opening was very small, Raven could see two eyes peaking through the brightly coloured leaves. He unsheathed his scimitar immediately, fur standing on end. "Who are you?" he called, wary of this stranger. One could never be too careful while travelling.

"C'mon you idiot."
"Hey, who're you calling idiot, idiot?" Elm he smirked at his friend, rubbing his cuffed ear self-consciously. He hiked his bag higher up on his shoulder, and jogged to catch up with his friend.
"We'll be there in no time."
"Hah, you're right, I think I can see the outline of the city up ahea-"
Elm was interrupted by the foreign scent in the sudden cold breeze; it made his fur tremble with excitement. Or perhaps it was shivers.
"Someone's there." He heard his friend mutter. As Raven moved with grace and silence, Elm made his presence known to the intruder by loudly galavanting across the sand. He landed with a loud and satisfying thump beside Raven, teeth and claws exposed triumphantly. He let Raven speak first, but he backed his friend up with a guttural growling sound.
"Show yourself!" He spat through gritted teeth. There was no way he was going down without a fight, should it come to that.

Hues of dull gold shimmered in what little light filtered in the bright autumn foliage watching a pair of toms not but too far off. The dark blue coloured male brought her mind to question, she'd never seen any one cat nearly as different as him. Nevertheless, she wasn't the only one trying to investigate now as both of them had quickly caught onto her presence. 'Dangit! How can you be so careless..' Nil silently scolded herself having not realized the direction of the winds before quickly pushing her form deeper into the leaves until her spine tapped against the tree trunk. Burrowing her face into her warm fleece scarf the she-cat took a deep interrupted breath of air thrown off by the demanding voices on the beach. Slipping a fang over her dark, almost nonexistent, feline lip Nil's diaphragm flexed rather quickly now. The adrenaline produced from her anxiety made hind limbs quake. Neither of them sounded too happy but the longer she sat there hiding the greater the risk of them attacking her grew, so it seemed anyway.
"I-I won't hurt you." A voice called from the tree filled with anxious nature in hopes that the navy pelted tom would sheath his weapon and for his friend to back off some. Holding out a forelimb to swat at the leaves slightly enough so that she could see them clearly once more and if they had relaxed some Nil would slowly start climbing down the tree trunk as she normally did, quick and swift. If they had not the kit would have most certainly camped out.

Standing there on the beach with scimitar in paw, Raven closed his eyes and sighed. "Way to use the sneaky approach." he muttered sarcastically, opening his eyes and glancing at Elm, a smirk on his face. He then returned his attention to the matter at hand- namely, the stranger behind the tree.
Feeling bolder now that Elm was at his side, Raven took a few paces forward, blade at the ready. There was nothing coming from the direction of the tree, save from the faint crackle of leaves as the strange cat pushed itself deeper into the branches. "I won't ask again!" Raven hissed, jabbing his scimitar forward threateningly. Though he loved to duel, Raven took no pleasure in causing undeserved pain, but he and Elm has experienced enough to know that trust was not something to give away easily.
"I-I won't hurt you."
A timid voice broke the silence, and Raven tilted his head to one side, looking quickly at Elm before lowering his blade a bit. The tree in front of them rustled, and then the branches parted slightly, revealing the anxious face of a young she-cat, her yellow gaze filled with worry. Recognizing immediately that she was not a threat, Raven sheathed his weapon gently, and straightened up. "Hello," he meowed in a friendly tone. "Err, sorry for the greeting, I expect you got a little nervous. It's just, you can't always be sure who or what you're going to meet around these parts." Raven looked over at Elm, and smiled. "I think we're safe."

Elm glanced over at his friend, matching his playful smirk. "You know me." he muttered. Elm followed his friend closer to the tree, prepared for anything, but he wouldn't lay a claw on any cat unless they struck first. Elm enjoyed duelling as much as Raven did, and despite his usual flippant demeanor, he would never harm another cat unless they meant business.
"I-I won't hurt you." He heard the timid voice squeak from within the tree. As the branches parted, he saw the she-cat's worried golden eyes, and immediately sheathed his claws.
"I think we're safe." He heard Raven say. Elm glanced over at his friend, grinning with a look of embarrassment on his face.
"I think so too." he chuckled, and turned back toward the she-cat. "I'm sorry if we scared you. We really mean no harm. As my friend said you can never be too careful. At any rate, are you trying to find your way to Gweillan too?" he asked the kit, holding out his paws to help her out of the tree. "-Don't worry, I'll catch you."
