"Thanks." Tomb gave his brusgue reply as he left the butcher, throwning the slab of meat into his bag. The cat behind the counter merely nodded, counting the shillings his latest customer had given him as he left. Tomb always came down here for his meats when he had the time a d money, however few and far between those two where. He was in south quarter as well, a place where he took great care to tread. His meagar fire spell wouldn't protect him if he found himself in the clutches of a possible assailant. Walking down the cracked pavement of the street, the smokey gray tom stopped for a moment, checking his bag for his shillings. Still there, safe and sound. He sighed, and began to walk again, litting his fluffy tail flick up in a curl out of good nature. That is, until his green eyes shot down to the ground, widening a bit in surprise. There, sitting all by its lonesome, was a pretty green cloth, probably a shawl of some sort, some what covered in dust from the street. He tilted his head. The fabric looked nice from where he was standing, and no doubt belonged to some one with enough extra shillings to buy even a pretty necklace. The cook waked forward, intent to grab it and maybe sell it himself for a couple more shillings. Too bad for the poor fellow who left it. But just as he reached down to grab in, a wind gusted up, making the shawl fly into the air, whipping into a dark alley way. 'Great.' the tom thought, expression souring. However, his own curiosity wouldn't let up, and he followed after it, completely oblivious to the world around him. He didn't even think to call out into the little alley if some one was inside it.

Charity had been watching the butchers for a while now, hidden in the shadows with her knife twirled in her paw as she leant against the cracked wall. After her last little discussion with a young tom about the 'wrongs' of pickpocketing, she was slightly put off to being lectured to again and had decided to go for something a little more profitable and high risk in the world of crime. A fully confrontational and classic raid. These parts were a little more shady and a little less patrolled by the legionaries, so was a perfect prey ground for those not currently choosing the moral ground. The amber eyed she-cat perked up as she spotted a grey tom walking up to the stall, buying a slab of healthy look meat and pad away again. From what she saw, this tom must have been quite wealthy, most likely some kind of noble or working for the royals even, buying food like that. She had spotted quite a neat looking necklace on him too, so both were quite tempting for the thief.
Leaping elegantly to her feet and sheathing her dagger, she quickly made sure to keep pace with the grey cat by going around the back alley ways, before pushing just a bit ahead. She knew it would be foolish to just step out into the open and wave around a knife, so she slipped out a roll of green silk she had torn from 'her' Gala dress, -she had ripped up the whole thing and sold each part for a few good schillings- and tossed it into the middle of the road. Sure enough, the green eyed tom soon appeared, and instantly spotted the green fabric. It seemed almost like fate when the wind blew the strip of cloth towards her, luring the tom into her shadows.
She uncoiled the rope from around her head and hung it over one shoulder for easy access, then delicately brushed her paw on the handle of her dagger, before unsheathing it with a click. Using the shadows and her silent paws, the feline figure slipped around the grey victim until she stood directly behind him. Then she gently placed just the tip of the blade against his back, saying a phrase that was familiar for her teasing tongue.
“Your money or your life. I'll let you keep the rag in exchange~”

He should of known this would happen. He even expected it would happen. Of course, guess who forgot to bring his dagger? Ding ding ding! Though the fact that it was a female voice threatening him with death. "Oh, so it was yours." he mewed, swallowing. That tiny inkling of fear built up in his chest, but he pushed it down. He wouldn't give this thief the satisfaction of seeing his fur spike. His tail flicked to and fro, brushin against the others legs. He could try to trip her with it. Creator knew it was thick and heavy enough to do something of that sort. But ignorance of the other's skill and quick mindedness got the better of him. For all he knew, one single movement of that sort would probably only have her leap into the air like a squirrel or something, and run him through before he had the chance to spot her again. So he stood there, thinking. Maybe he could try to burn her? No, that wouldn't work either. His spell wasn't strong enough, and the whole 'she could be more skilled then I though' thing came into play again. And if he ran, she could easily streth forward and stop him with that stupid dagger.
"Couldn't you attack some one else? I mean it's not like I'm rich or anything. I only have a few shillings on me right now, and I'm sure you'd want more than just that." the cook said in exhasperation. He really didn't need this right now. He just wanted to go home, put the stupid meat away, and take a nap. But now. Flickerfoot over here had to have to amaaaaazing idea to pin him with her stupid little dagger in this stupid little alley way. 'It was your own stupidity that got you here in the first place too, you know.' his subconcious added, and he sneered. "Okay, how bout this? I'm a cook, and a pretty good one. Maybe you'd be interested in a meal of some sort? I mean it is cold, and your occupation may not give you a lot of time to eat." He hated offering something, and then not getting anything in return. Hated it with a passion. What was the point of being a free lance cook with barely any money to yourself if you were just going to give it away to some thief that had gotten you in an alley. 'The shillings I could of gotten for that meal is probably worth more than the shillings I have now.' but his pride held him back from just giving up his little baggy.

Charity grinned, her own short tail flicking lightly from the small excitement she always felt when she held power over another cat. This tom seemed to be tall, maybe even a little strong, but with her dagger at his back he didn't even try to run or fight. She partly knew it wasn't right to enjoy causing other cats to freeze and force them to do things at the risk of their life. In fact the spotted she-cat wasn't even sure she had the guts to actually kill another cat. No victim had ever tried to push her onto making that choice. There was a serious difference in morality and punishment when it came to stealing and killing. A difference that she wasn't willing to step yet.
The tom's voice wasn't shaken with fear though, so obviously he was going to be a little more defiant then some she-cats she had picked on in the past. The amber eyed she-cat didn't really trust what he said, cats lied all the time to get out of situations in the past and she found the best way was to be harsh and demanding. Few she had stolen from truly had nothing to give.
/Cook?/ Well she had sort of worked that out from his purchase, but the idea that he would cook for someone who had tried to mug him made her laugh a little. “I didn't know it was so easy to be invited to dinner. I guess toms must be desperate these days.” She said with a giggle, the knife ever pressed ever so lightly into the silvery pelt. It was a tempting offer, a warm meal from a decent cook. Hell she hadn't eaten warm food in a while, since she usually just brought something light and quick to eat at home. She certainly didn't live with anyone. The doubtful she-cat wouldn't give in yet, so with a little nudge of her dagger, she purred lightly. "Well a meal sound delightful, but I find that's quite the eye catching necklace around your little neck. I could just take that and leave if you like~”

"Believe me missy, when I say this. The only reason I'm offering is to keep my pride and not have to give up my last shillings to you. I don't need the companionship of a she cat, so I hope you don't speak to me as if I do." he snorted, wrinkling his nose. His spine tinkled at the icy kiss of the blade on his back, and he swallowed. "I wouldn't want your stupid friendship either." He should just stop while he was already behind. It wasn't like she actually wanted to kill him, even if she could, and might have the guts to. But her next suggestion sent his fur alight. Why did she have to see that particular item on him. He immediately tensed at the spoken thought, lips drawing back as he snarled. "Don't you dare. Take my bag and offering, but not the necklace." He hissed. He couldn't see the other, but he tried his hardest to give a glare, which was still blind to the thief. "I swear to you if you even try to take it, you'll be sorry." he threatened again, already revealing way too much. What was his attachment to it anyway? He couldn't quite remember. All he knew was that by the creator, this damn thief wasn't taking it from him, even if she sliced his back open on this cold, windy autumn day.
"Seriously, just let me go and I'll give you a bowl of stew or something. The legionaries don't care about middle classers like me, and probably wouldn't believe me if I said I had some thief eating at my house. You have to believe me. I wouldn't of offered it if I knew I'd be able to get you caught." He tried his best to persuade her. This probably was the first time he'd ever offered a meal to some one for free. But, when your life, pride, and belongings wer potentially on the line, there was room for change. The cool pulled his bag to his stomache, opening it to glance at the meat. It was still red and succulent looking, perfect for a good soup or something. (derp short)

It seemed this tom wasn't much of a fun loving jokers as herself, as he literally took her remark and outright denied the idea of wanting a mate. Of course she didn't even feel like that about him. Who would want a tom so grumpy. This did make her giggle even more however, especially as he called her friendship stupid. /Seems like he has forgotten who is holding the knife/ She thought with a smile, unsurprised as the tom fired up in anger at her new suggestion. He even tried to threaten her despite the current opposing situation. /It seemed cats got so attached to their trinkets these days/ The spotted she-cat thought with a roll of her eyes. The thief wouldn't get so attached to her things if someone was trying to take it with such force.
Her ears twitched as the cook seemed to offer the meal idea again, and she found herself growing bored. Obviously this tom was just a bit to stubborn to give over his money and necklace, and in reality she didn't need either. She had gone to steal to calm down and forget the kid from earlier with his morals of righteousness. The air was cold and the more she thought about it a warm meal from a decent cook wouldn't be a bad idea. The days were slowly counting down to winter's cold touch, and it wasn't like she didn't feel the cold. If she was able to make a deal for a warm meal every once in a while from the silver tom, then she'd be better off then what one bag of schillings could get her.
Charity wasn't very trusting but she knew that if he did try to rat her out, then it would take little effort to drag him with her. A simple lie that he had been sheltering her for a while and he'd be become an accomplice to a thief. Her grin widened, but the dagger remained firmly in place. “All right. You've convinced me. I hope for your sake you're a good cook.” She said with a purr, not truly caring if he couldn't cook because he'd still have to give her some warm meal in return for today. “Tell me where you live and what time of day you'd like me to visit and I'll come for the meal when I need it. And don't think about lying because I think you can imagine that it's easy to track down a cat using connections like mine.”
