Sky forced the door of the ancient mansion to open. Her fur white from snow, and her whiskers covered with frost. She slammed the door and tried to calm her breathing, and heart, because it felt like her lungs were going to pop.The she-cat had been peaceably walking home from hunting, and that's when the blizzards hit, causing her to lose all of her prey and to take shelter inside of the old mansion. After the dark-cinnamon colored she-cat had calmed her breathing, she shook the snow out of her fur and cursed under her breath.
Sky sat down to make sure she hadn't lost any of her arrows. She hadn't, and after about five minutes, she sensed another living thing somewhere in the house.

A gray tom staggered unsteadily as he made his way forward, squinting in effort to see the path ahead. The gentle snow that had been falling had suddenly turned into a blizzard, limiting visibility in such a manner that he could barely see two tail-lengths in any direction. He carefully cradled the papers in his paws as if it where gold, making sure to keep a strong grip on the corners so he wouldn’t lose them in the storm.
With a startled hiss he stopped suddenly, finding a solid wall of stone in front of him. “Oh no….no,no,no.” he spoke his thoughts aloud as he took a step back to examine the structure in front of him. This is…The Dusty Mansion!? “I’m not going in there.” He was old enough to know the stories associated with this place, and there wasn’t anything other than the weather to give him incentive to enter. “I’d rather freeze to death…” he mumbled.
Miles did his best to wrap his scarf around his head in a way that covered both his ears and muzzle, leaving the short poncho to cover his body as he carefully passed the parchment from paw to paw to adjust the fabric around him.
These where his papers. He had found them fair and square; no one could claim any rights to them, they where his…that was, until the wind decided to claim them. “NO!” The tom screeched as he fell back, arms lashing out as he frantically tried to snatch the sheets from the air. He stumbled forward as he swiveled, face landing in the snow as a result of his ungraceful slip.
Miles pushed himself up just in time to see the group of document fly upward against the wall into the opening that was the second story window.
“NO! NO,NO,NO!” He screamed unstably, pounding the frozen ground with a clenched fist. There was only one way he was going to them back. With effort, he stood up and made his way along the wall until he found what he could only guess was the back door.He extended a paw to the brass knob and pushed his way in. The cold wasn’t what was making him shake now.
